Hi all,

I just started charting and had a question. I am about 4 days pre-period, and have temps in the low 97's. From what I have read, the temps should peak before my period, not be low? Thanks!

do you have a chart to share?

Your temperature should increase at ovulation, 9-15 days before your period.

How are you temping?  Vaginally or orally?

Your temperature will drop on the day before or the first day of your period.

They will generally go up around ovulation, but the range is different for different people.  If you can temp for a whole cycle, it will make more sense.

I've only been temping for 3 days, so no real chart to show. Probably should give it a whole cycle!

Orally.

It's hard (well, pretty much impossible) to draw any conclusions from three temps.   winky.gif

I would you suggest that you start entering your temps into fertility friend or some other online charting software and hopefully you will see a trend.  My first chart was not clear at all.  I was temping orally and I thought I wasn't ovulating.  But then I started temping vaginally and my temps smoothed out and it is much easier to read.

One of many reasons I will be doing my own kids' sexual education rather than passing the responsibility to some high school so that they can convince my daughters to get on the pill behind my back without telling them about the consequences.

you know, the funny thing is that my mom taught NFP classes when I was a little kid so I actually was vaguely aware of it.  I would have been mortified to have to talk to her about it though!  She was very open with me but also respectful of my shyness.  So I did have some vague notion/awareness of NFP, I just wish it was a more mainstream idea.  I mean, it is horrifying to me that my college human physiology teacher taught us that your temperature will spike before ovulation and that's when you are fertile dizzy.gif

My mom used it too. She talked about how she charted to get my two younger sisters, now 28 and 26. I was horrified (being pre-teen), but at least I have concrete proof it works!
