I've been researching what bc to use after my daughter was born, and she's here! Nothing seems like an ideal method, but we HAVE to use something. My body can't handle another pregnancy any time soon.

I would love to do NFP, but I am breast feeding and if this baby is any indicator of my other babies, I won't be getting a PP period for a long while. I charted to conceive my last two pregnancies and did it successfully, but I wasn't breastfeeding and had regular cycles at that point. My second choice was Paraguard, but I've read nothing but horrible experiences.

I need something without hormones, I had Implanon for 2 years and it was a nightmare, my husband and I both dislike condoms, and the diaphragm sounds nice in theory, but with 3 kids, sex isn't a planned thing, so I'd never really know when to put it in, and permanent bc isn't in the cards for us. And this pretty much brings me back to NFP and PG lol!

So please, help! Any references to how to successfully use NFP with a nursing baby? I know LAM is pretty darn effective for the first 6 months, but if I don't get a period after that, than what? Any experience with Paraguard?

I think I'm going to go with the diaphragm until I get my cycles back, then FAM. I was under the impression you put the diaphragm in 6 hours before sex, not leave it in 6 hours after lol

I just wanted to tell you that my midwife told me that after you've had a baby, the diaphragm is only 80% effective!  One of her children was conceived while using a diaphragm.

But I feel your pain.  I basically hate all forms of birth control.

I'm not sure if I'm just really lucky, but with my husband and for past relationships we have always just used the withdrawal method. I guess it's probably lame for the guy but I never got complaints except for one boyfriend who also didn't want to use a condom and ended up being a real jerk.

I have only ever gotten pregnant intentionally. I have read some research that states that the withdrawal method is actually as effective as many other forms of birth control but I don't have a link for you as this was a long time ago.

I apologize if I'm giving bad advice! Just telling you what has worked for me. I absolutely cannot do hormonal BC.

Dalia--I have heard that if done "right," that it can be very effective!  My DH is pretty strongly opposed, so probably won't be in our future...but maybe for alaskanmomma!  Plus, I get preggo so easily.

If I had the willpower to tell him to pull out, I'd do it haha. I can see myself getting pregnant(purposely) doing withdraw method greensad.gif.
