I was wondering if someone could clear these terms up for me; I hear and see them used interchangably all the time, but my impression was that they were three different things. So what exactly are "natural family planning," "fertility awareness method," and "the rythm method?"

The rhythm method is the one that doesn't work. It is the one that is purely based on numbers.

Fertility Awareness Method is what Toni Weschler talks about in her book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It involves taking you temp each morning and charting that in addition to charting your cervical fluid.

I HIGHLY recommend the book.

Natural Family Planning is kind of an interchangeable term with FAM. The difference is that some people who practice FAM will use barrier methods of contraceptive when they are fertile, and a lot of NFP folks won't, they will abstain instead.

I think those definitions are correct, someone correct me f I am wrong!!!
