We are also going to TTC in early 2008. It will be #3 for us! I started to get baby urges about a month ago, but my sister just had a miscarriage...so, we aren't going to start actively trying for a few more months. I would hate to cause her any more emotional upset. DS is still nursing well...so AF hasn't returned. I've been charting...just waiting to become fertile again! Good luck TTC mamas!!!

Can't... resist... urge... to ... conceive... arrgghhh....

I really do need to wait for career reasons until at least next June. I hate knowing that issues like health insurance and not ruining my career (only seriously damaging it instead ) are affecting whether or not we bring another child into the world... They seem like very superficial reasons sometimes.

I'm really hoping to get pregnant that first month especially if it means making baby in Hawaii! : I really want a Fall babe. My favorite season, well, and also so that I can have a vegetable garden during the summer and then not miss a beat and have a garden the following year. See, I got plans. It probably won't work out that way though.

What? You mean it isn't going to go just as I plan and work out MY way.

Oh wait, if it did, I would have been pregnant in June.

I was wondering what you all are doing to get your bodies ready for TTC. This will be my first time TTC, and I want to make sure that my body is ready. Any suggestions?

I had some bad habits (food, regular exercise) that I have worked on changing. I drink lots of water, stopped drinking soda, take prenatals, eat a whole foods diet and I regularly do yoga, pilates and some other activities. Basically I want to have good habits formed before being pregnant so I do not struggle with them later.

For me, reducing sugar has been the hardest. I have been doing pretty well the last couple of months, until DH brought a Costco pumpkin pie home this week.: I love me some Costco pumpkin pie. , but it's pure evil I tell ya.

Thanks for the replies! I totally hear you on having a hard time cutting out sugar. How soon before TTC did you start taking prenatals?

FarmerCathy: Had you been doing yoga before you got pregnant, too? I have heard a lot of good things about prenatal yoga but I don't currently do yoga, so I didn't know if I should start trying to get into yoga now.

Thanks for the help, ladies!

I had been to a couple yoga classes before, but it had been a couple years. So no you don't have to have prior experience before you take prenatal yoga. I loved it!

Waving to everyone....an subscribing. We're TTC a 2008 baby! Or well....will be...whenever my cycle comes back...I had twins 9 weeks ago so I'm still waiting for my period to return! I'm guessing it will soon and then I'll get pregnant end of November timeframe. I've had three summer deliveries and my body seems to love being pregnant in the summer <BLECK!>

As far as getting healthy before getting pregnant again, I'm keeping up my prenatals and am back to pre-twins pregnancy weight and feeling good. So, I'm ready!

I also took prenatal yoga....but then I never seem to keep up with it AFTER pregnancy, but you don't need any yoga 'experience' to take the prenatal classes

I've been taking them for years. My MD pushed them on me in my early 20's (now 32) using scare tactics, i.e. "you could get pregnant at any time and we wouldn't want baby to have any birth defects, now would we". I have probably been taking them 8-10 years. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when I realized I wanted a baby and started reading and learned they were synthetic. When I tried to find out what was in them I could not get any answers, then I researched and switched to food based ones.

Three months seems to be the minimum for how soon you should start beforehand. It doesn't hurt to start before though.

WOW! I can't believe you are ready again already! You go girl!

It took me 22 months to have af return with my ds and I had been ttc basically since then. Unfortunately one m/c and ectopic later...I am on the ttavoid track now (until 2008 that is! )

What am I doing? Well taking folic acid supplements specifically because of the meds I needed for the ectopic. I am also taking multivitamins and Omega FA's. I am trying to get more rest and exercise. I am also consulting a fertility specialist because of my history and doing acupuncture and chiropractic care regularly. I will be starting some cranial sacral care in the near future and may do some reiki or other energy healing. I also "should" reduce the sugar intake some too and have been trying to stay away from chocolate. It is my biggest weakness.

With my own babies, my period didn't return until 19 mos and 20 mos post-partum, but that was nursing them and night nursings too. I'm not pumping at night and so I'm hopefuly my period will return soon. It was 9 weeks with surro-daughter even though I was still pumping. And just like now, I was pumping daytime only and not at night, and I'm told that will help my fertility return....so I'm hopeful!

I SOOOO would not be ready for another one if I had 9 week old twins at home LOL But, I've been sleeping great and taking good care of myself and actually feel better than I have after any of my other births and ready to go again!

Hi Everyone
I can't believe I found this thread! I thought I was the only one tta until 2008! My fh and I are getting married in May 2008, and he's promised we can start ttc after that! I'm already working full-time, and by then he'll have graduated and will also be working. I would love a late winter 2009 baby... It seems sooooo far away!!

Prenatals and cod liver oil.

I am slowly moving from my lifelong vegetarian diet towards a Traditional Foods diet. It's a pretty steep learning curve for me, so I want to feel comfortable cooking the foods I think I should be eating. I ate tons of soy while pregnant with DS, and wouldn't you know - he has a peanut allergy.

I also am lurking on the Healing the Gut threads. I want to be in real good shape intestinally before I put anything else into the pot, so to speak.

I had a very tough 2nd stage labor and am about to finally see a PT to evaluate what on earth happened down there. The ol squeezebox doesn't really Kegel. So I'm very hopeful that some biofeedback will address that so I'm not peeing myself for 9 months once I conceive!

And pilates.

Good luck to everybody!!!

We're planning to TTC starting in May... is it too soon for a pre-conception check-up? I've read lots that says it's important to have a check-up, but nowhere can I find how soon before you TTC that you should have it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I think anytime between now and then would be fine. That's what I would do. My midwife asked if I wanted one at my first appt. when I was pregnant w/ds. So you can also get one when pregnant as well. I asked her at our last appt. when ds was 6 wks when I should get my next one and she said when I get pregnant next or 3 yrs.

We are going to start trying in Jan or Feb 2008, *hopefully*

Since we lost our sweet angel at 16 weeks, we are waiting 2-3 months. I have to see a sepcialist for Pre-conception planning this time. I have had 2 losses in a row.

I have baby fever big time! I cannot wait to TTC again. I miss this angel, but having her brother or sister will be sweet. Enjoy BD everyone!

Take care,

Jen, mama to  (M-13, N- 10, C- 8 rainbow1284.gif J- 3.5, and rainbow1284.gifJ -2, angel3.gifA (10/4/07) and 3 early losses)
We are expecting baby #7 in November 2013

Jen and welcome. I also had two losses in 2007 one m/c at 6 weeks and an ectopic in July. I am sorry for your loss. I am also waiting until 2008 (maybe dec. 2007) to ttc again and I am seeing a fertility specialist next week to try to avoid another loss, if possible.

Oh, and I also have a redhead. Well more strawberry blonde now...

I have Oct of 08 throughly marked on my calender already. DD2 turns 2 then and I can officially start to TTC!!! I'll have my work cut out for me, Oct is when I will start to induce AF back so I can TTC. DD1 was 2.5y old when I did this to get pg with DD2, bfing works VERY well as BC for me. Vitex lowers my milk supply so I refuse to use it before the baby is 2y, it will probably be '09 by the time I can really get down to TTCing, but that Oct date is what I think about on a daily basis now.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.
