I had a Paragard IUD inserted exactly one week ago. Dh and I had sex yesterday and then again today. I am now having pain in a difficult to describe location...sort of in my butt, sort of in my vagina. Does anyone know what this means?

Also, it hurts a lot more when I'm standing than when I'm sitting or lying down.

Okay...now that pain has gone away, but I'm having cramps. They feel like menstrual cramps, but I should be ovulating today. Is this normal? Anyone?

I'm not sure if it's normal, but I just wanted to offer , it's no fun trying to figure out what's going on! I also wanted to say that I sometimes get a weird, almost pinched nerve sensation/crampy feeling where I imagine you're describing. It happens when I use instead cups. I can only guess that a nerve gets bumped or something - maybe that happened when you DTD? I'd probably check the strings to make sure they don't feel any shorter/longer to be on the safe side.

Ovulation pain is super-common with the Paraguard (I've had one for 4 years) - but it freaked me out at first too. For the other pain, it could be nothing, it could be a placement issue. I might go back to the OB/GYN to get a placement check - very quick appt. to indicate that it's still in the correct position and that there are no other issues.

I remember that it did take a bit of time to get used to the IUD - just little twinges of "hey, what's that?" Good luck!
