Have any of you had good results?

I'm just wondering about doing it for my Etsy shop as well as my blog (has ads)

I've had fantastic results. On one hand, many of my customers are MDC mamas. This allowed me to do a lot of sales during the time when we weren't listed well with the search engines. It also seemed to help my search engine rankings (I suspect this is because the posts are dated and MDC is well indexed by search engines). Within 6 weeks, we were getting orders from search engine customers.

The only caveat of course is that you have to post and post often. It also helps to frequent a number of sub forums (rather than just a couple).

It's kind of a fun way to promote my business because seriously...like I'm not going to be hanging out and chatting on MDC anyway

Hope that helps

That was tough to find! There used to be an advertising link at the top. It's on the right hand side under "support MDC" and "premium memberships".

Ditto Carin, better results with a discount. I also get better results when I take the time to post on relevant boards (sewing, in my case) or post at all, though the cumulative effect of previous posts still being viewed is pretty good. Not as good traffic-wise as Adwords... but a more targeted audience.

I had great results the first couple times I bought it but the forums have changed a lot and I don't/can't post in the forums I used to so it's not working out for me the last 2 times.

I hate to dicourage it, b/c I love MDC and all, but...

It didn't work well for me. I think it basically came down to my not offering something that was really MDC targeted. I do cafepress, and while I had lactivist stuff and what not, it just didn't seem to be what MDC moms were looking for.

I have been wondering if I should give it another go now that CP is offering a bunch more organic options (including kids cloths.) I'm a bit undecided, since OTOH it didn't work before, but OTOH I could probably do something more appealing to MDCers no that there is a wide selection of organics. I will certainly need to organize my shop better if I decide to go for it.

Not sure if I can't discuss my experience with a siggy ad without violating the UA but I found that many MDC members are somewhat hostile to the commercialization of the site and this includes siggy ads. Maybe just a backlash against my type of products, I don't know.

Isn't working out too well for me neither. I've had clicks.... but hardly any sales.

Froogle has been the best for me so far.

I don't get many sales from it but I do get contacts for my mailing list. So you never know when someone may decide to order, etc.

My best results, with regards to Mothering, have come from having an online Marketplace ad. But, that's a little more costly.

It was pretty good for me, but only if I made sure to post regularly in the forum that was specific to my products. I had a very niche market and it was a pretty niche forum (Elimination Communication) so it was a good fit for me.

I've found it to be helpful in terms of search engine optimization and search engine results. I've also gotten some new customers directly from the link, which is a good thing! This is a new business for me, but so far it has been worth it.
