In Erin's thread on her advertising results with Mothering.com many of us stated that siggy ads were the best MDC advertising investment we had made.

Now I'm wondering ... do YOU click on siggy ad links?

How often?
Why?
Because the website name sounds interesting?
The website content sounds interesting?
You like the person's posts and want to check out her site?
Other?

All the time. I get bored and love to browse WAHM stores. Its usually a cool name or slogan that gets me to click.

Either b/c she posted something useful and I want to check her out or b/c her siggy just caught my attention. I do it all the time! Definitely more than banners, though I occasionally click those, too.

Yes, I do click on them
How often? once in a while
Why? An intresting post or something caught my eye.
I like to look at WAHM stores, too. I don't always need something, but I bookmark them to keep in mind for later. I actually buy more in November/December for the holidays.

ALL the time. I love to support other wahms mostly, also because my DH is a web designer, so I like to look at other sites, and probably sometimes just beacuse I am bored. I feel like the moms on this board are my family, kwim? I would much rather find a needed item or gift from someone on here than at the mall or something. thats why I buy on the tp also.

I agree with tuckersmom - I like to know what women are doing here so I can buy from one of them first, before I just go do a random search.

I DO click on siggy ads all the time - I like to look around and just have it in my head what's available. I also like looking at the web design and since there are several WAHM preferred designers, I'm getting good at spotting who did what site. I'm always looking for ideas for my own site for future incarnations.

I just think it's important to support WAHM's if I can.

I click on siggy ads when they seem benefit-oriented or if I like her posts and I think something in her siggy relates to that I like to "learn more" about what she's about.

I do sometimes click on banner ads, again if they are benefit oriented and tell me why I should click on them.

Google Ad Sense has shown me that text ads outperform image ads. And that positioning is key. Ads at the bottom of content work well, and so do text ads in key positions on a page, like the left side, or embeded into an article.

I click on siggy ads more often than banner ads. I like to see what people are doing and what's available out there. I keep an ongoing 'WAHM' online catalogue in my head . So if it is something I'm in the market for I definitely go check, or if I like the poster from what I've read, or the name, or curious about the text in the siggy etc.

I have learned sooo much from you Erin! I've been consciously trying to make my adds and such NOT just say my business name now and rather give the person a reason to click. Not quite there yet, but working on it!

I also click on all of them! But I believe strongly in networking with other moms and promoting the businesses of the women on the forums I take part in. So when someone needs an Onbuhimo, of course I would suggest Kristine! I also like to buy from wahms, and just bout a ton of wool from Llamajama bc she is a member here.

How often? Why? When I see something "new". Something that hasn't been done before. I also like to check out websites as I'm planning a redesign in a few months and I'm looking for ideas.
You like the person's posts and want to check out her site? Sometimes this will be the case. I like to see what other people are all about. I find people in general so interesting!

I click on siggys if their siggy looks interesting, if I am checking out website styles, I am bored, if I am looking for something in particular. How often depends on how busy I am.

me, too- depends on how busy I am more than any thing else. I sometimes check the banners, but not as often as siggys, often I'm looking to find out more about someone whose posts I like (or in some cases, DON'T like, although that is very seldom here, more on one of the mainstream boards I'm on : then i avoid their stuff LOL ) Mostly just filing away who does what for future ref, or for referring to people, sometimes to buy, I love to use WAHMs for anything I can at this point.

I've rarely clicked on a banner ad, but click on siggy ads all the time. Usually it's because of a post I've read, but sometimes it's the business name or a sale. Sometimes I'm just bored and click-crazy.

To answer the OP, yes! I love to see what going on out there and tend to do so if I'm researching a product or merely because something appeals to me. Sometimes it allows me to recommend WAHMs to mamas.

I'm curious, do you choose an ad that come with a discount code over one that doesn't?

I definitely click on siggy ads when I see them. I like supporting MDC Mamas, and I like the fact that I can contact the person here through PM if I want. It's usually really good stuff I see, too.

I click on siggys all the time and almost never click on banners.
I actually get slightly annoyed when there is a WAHM referring to her business and she does not have a siggy I can click on.: Often times it is on here and we are having a discussion about advertising or shipping or something like that and someone posts what they do but there is NO link in her siggy and I may be interested in what she does and giving her some of my money I know I can click on the persons name and get their profile and often times their website is listed in there but I am usually too lazy/distracted to go through all of that.
