Just a thought... since we are unfortunately so far from making circumcision illegal, as the whole right to religious ritual thing might be a long hard battle, I suggest one more option:

Require all parents to be fully educated and tested on the non biased facts of circumcision. If that test is passed, then if they choose to circumcise then so be it. Unfortunately if it is simply left as "parent's choice" then few (as we know) will actually do the research before making the mindless routine cosmetic decision.

I also vote on that for vaccinations, but there is much more government bias info out there on that...

What is your view on routine male infant circumcision?
I was young, naiive, uninformed and mislead about circumcision; and sadly, my son was circ'd. :

Now, three years later, my opinion goes a lot more like this:
: : : :Puke

and while the old me would have been stark raving mad at me, I think choice and circumcision absolutely do not go together; because clearly those who "choose" yes don't know enough to "choose" no; or there wouldn't be any question of choice at all! Illegal would be much more fitting; and it makes me SICK to know that doctors who are supposed to SAVE/HELP/HEAL people, not hurt them are doing this... to brand new citizens who have no words to say 'stop' and 'you're hurting me' no less!! This is NOT a simple uncomplicated 'procedure' like the'll have you believe; but rather a disgusting and painful torturing of a child that they perform while the days old infant is strapped to a baby-shaped plastic board. See my signature to visit my myspace and read my blog on circumcision to find out more!!! (sorry, that got a little long)

WARNING: The comments and opinions expressed above do not necessarily reflect those of the community in which I reside; or those of the internet parenting network.
