Now that my doula/CBE business is running, I'm getting ready to start a website. I need a logo!!!

How do I make my own? Can I use a simple paint program? What are some cheap/easy solutions that I can do myself. I know I could pay someone else to do that, but I'd like to give it a try first.

Any suggestions?

Even though I think I'm artistic, I hired Sleeping Bean to do my logo. I got exactly what I wanted and it was *very* reasonably priced. I understand wanting to do your own, though. Good luck!

Which graphics programs do you have on your computer already? And will you need your logo to appear in print form at all? How big will it need to be in its biggest form? LMK & I will recommend what to try!

Graphics programs? Like something I've bought and installed or what's already on the computer? All that came with the PC is Paint

I want it to be in print form, probably max size would be 4 inches (like for a cover sheet or on web), min size maybe 1 in, like for a business card or a receipt.

Very ignorant in this area :

Ideally, you would use something like Adobe Illustrator, but it is very expensive software. The reason something like Paint will not work is because if you print something from Paint, it will be all jagged and not nice. I see two good solutions:

1. Mock up your idea in Paint, and send it to a graphics person for refinement for printing. This will take a lot of the time ($) out of developing a logo, and will allow you to work with it creatively.

2. Purchase software that will allow you to create print-quality graphics. I did find an open source of something that is like Illustrator (called Inkscape: inkscape.org), but I have not tried it out. You could also find a trial version of Illustrator to see if you think you would like it.

Well after piddling around with a couple different ideas, here's what I've come up with. Is it workable? Should I change anything?

I really like it!

I think I would like to see what it looks like if you make the petals rounded. Also what if the flower & baby were photos instead of drawings?

Great color combo!
