Dh and I were talking of ways to bring in extra income. I do GPT programs and love it, but I'd also like to find something else to supplement my income. I don't like doing sales. I'm thinking more of filling out forms for some company. Something I can do on my own time (like they could give me deadlines but I would have a day or more to get it done) and hopefully get paid per form. I would prefer everything be done over the internet.

Does anyone know of any jobs like that out there?

Have you looked at Cha Cha? I have no idea what it pays. Or maybe AIM support for a GPT site?

Neat! I just spent over an hour on there, entering sweepstakes. Might I ask how much time you have spent to win that many prizes?

You can make a dollar or two and hour at:

www.mechturk.com

Maybe more if you are a good typist with high speed internet! And you can do it while holding a baby in one arm!

A few posts have been removed that were in violation of the GPT Forum Guidelines which say the following:

Quote:
  • No self promotion (spamming) of your GPT referral links within posts.
  • No linking, within posts to personal blogs and/or websites with referral links to GPT programs. As GPT would be considered a business, you can purchase a business signature and "advertise" within your signature ONLY.
  • Do not use the PM system to offer referral links to members (except when a member has specifically asked you via email or on a thread's post)
  • Do not discuss returns, how quickly to cancel memberships to avoid being charged, etc... THESE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED in order to maintain the integrity of Mothering and our community.
  • Do not comment within a thread “I’ll PM you”, “I have a tutorial”, "If you would like more information PM me" or any other form of self promotion.

Just lurking and at the "property of WAWA" t-shirt since I feel like I am their property as much as gas has gone up around here!!! But our WAWA has the lowest price, so I'm happy to be their property :

Seriously though I'm going to check that site out!

Two things:
1) What are GPT programs? I've seen several threads about them.
2) Wow. Those sweepstakes are addictive. I'd love to win something.

GPT stands for Get Paid To. GPT programs pay members to sign up for trials, do short surveys, and shop online. GPT sites are usually free to join. Don't join the paid ones.....you should never have to pay them to pay you!

Gosh, a lot. But it's a hobby for me. Probably half an hour (at least) every other day.

ChaCha is no longer accepting new guides, and apparently the pay has been lowered considerably, which is upsetting the existing guides. It's something like .50 cents per search, and they can go up to 6 minutes, if I'm understanding correctly.

lol I've probably put in ten hours, and made $5.00 so far. But its kind of fun, and on some HITs you could get speed up pretty fast with practice and possibly make 2-3 dollars an hour.

I like it because I'm doing real work (I always felt kind of, well, borderline unethical, I guess, doing GPT). But sometimes the pay on the Meck Turk is so LOW it seems unethical... at least, compared to what Americans are used to being paid for that kind of work. For example, ten cents to do a translation that it seems like a translator would charge $10.00 to $20.00 to do. I think I got 30 cents to write an article on Dallas, TX that took about 40 minutes to write; I don't think you could hire anyone to work for that in the "real world."

Do you fashion yourself a writer in any way? I write for associated content --- there is a thread in the mother's writing group on MDC here --

They don't pay a whole lot, anywhere from $3-20 per article -- most decent writers average about $5-10 an article and the articles are typically around 500-700 words -- I can write about 2-3 articles an hour and average about $5 an article (lowest was $3.16, highest was over $9) so that is about $15 an hour -- I have made a decent chunk of money so far -- nothing crazy, but it helps -- some people on there crank out articles like gang busters though and make thousands...

Worth checking out

I'm a little intimidated by Associated Content... It seems really frenzied.

I'm working up to it...

I too like the idea of an online job I can enjoy making a little money doing...

AC is a little frenzied but it's somewhat amusing and pays decently for not having a time committment
Transcription you can't really do in your spare time
Selling on Etsy is by far my favorite, but not as reliable as the other two I listed.
GPT seemed borderline unethical and stressful to me also, but those paid okay too.
