So, I ordered a virtual gift card from Simon and uh, it never arrived. I talked to customer service : (HOW many times do I need to give you my name, address and ph number??) and finally got the number DIRECTLY to Simon. Haven't talked to them yet, but if this is an indication of how things are to be, any suggestions of other companies to get virtual Visas and whatnot?

Thanks!

ETA: The number directly to Simon. Like it's a person. Heehee

I like Epassporte. www.epassporte.com

Paypal also has a virtual visa number that I've heard good things about.

Can someone break down exactly what this is all about? I think I get it, but don't know if I really do understand.

I just signed up for my first trial--Cosmetique. I'm excited although I am pretty boring with my make-up (Physician's Formula cover up, mascara, brown eye shadow and colored lip gloss) but still.

So, when exactly does my trial begin? Does it begin *today* or does it begin on the day I receive the make-up?

Petersmama-

you have to read all the details about your trials. It will tell you there when they start.

I know. Many people do use it and don't realize they can customize it to pervent being logged out. I thought it would be helpful to add.

The details weren't very detailed. It basically said how much it would charge per month, and I think it also said you could choose your packages, kind of like BMG or Columbia House for make-up.

I figured there would be more info with the package, and if not, and if I don't like the stuff, I will call them before one month from yesterday.

Has anyone dealt with iPodSweepstakes.com? I actually do more stuff for two other sites now, but when I first signed on a week or two ago, I did an offer through the Ipod site....the Bob Green's Best Life thing...and I still haven't been credited for it, though I waited the appropriate number of days, and I've contacted them several times since! Just their whole site feels fishy to me, but I'm kind of annoyed they're totally ignoring me.

yeah it wasn't very detailed and took a while for me to get it. in the package though it has at least a phone number and i made sure to write it down ASAP but they were really easy to get ahold of and i didn't have a problem asking about shipping info, and when etc.

GPT- Get Paid TO......

sign up for trials, try stuff, sign up for freebie drawings or zip/email submits. You will get paid for each offer/trial/freebie that you do. Anywhere from $.25 to $40+. As an example~~ Cosmetique is $5 (?) for full size samples of their makeup to try. You have X days to decide whether you like the product and wish to continue or cancel (please note that cancellation talk is NOT allowed on this forum). The GPT site (lets say Dealbarbiepays) pays you $20 for TRYING it with no obligation. This is a trial.

A freebie is when you enter your name, address, email etc into a drawing or something and they pay considerably less but there is no further work.

If you want a full beginners guide PM me your email address (its quite large and informative).
HTH!

cosmetique was great! I think it took a couple of weeks to get the makeup, but I think they give you 4 weeks from the ship date to try it out before senidng you the next batch They even let you extend your shipment times... so instead of every 4 weeks you can do every 6 weeks, every 8 weeks, etc.

I have had really good experiences with IpodSweepstakes. I've earned 2 iPods from them plus I won 1 in their daily drawing. I've never had to submit for manual credit, although I've heard they are good about that. In my experience they do take a while to answer emails; I'd say a week or so.

Are there any times when you'd give out your home phone number for freebies? I saw a student loan freebie where you have a chance to win money toward student loans, but it says you have to give them real info to be elligible. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Kelly

You can get a free phone number to use for freebies and such from \NetZero
Otherwise, you may end up getting a lot of phone calls on your regular phone. It's kind of cool. I like having a separate phone number just for sweepstakes and such!

So, did you like the make-up? Did you end up staying with them?

That's good to know! Their "support" section claims they'll get back to you within one business day...it's been several days, so I was beginning to wonder. As long as they DO, at some point, I'm cool.

I'm new at this, so forgive my ignorance. I've noticed that there are quite a few It's Your Opinion.com freebie offers. Can I do them all or only one?

Hi Mamas! Hope I can join in here. I am TOTALLY new to GPT but am ready to give it a go. I have been reading over your several threads trying to figure it all out and am very impressed. Seems like some of you are very savy at this. Wow! It still seems a little overwhelming to me, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

Does anyone have any recs on a good site or resources to check out that explains what I need to do to set myself up? From what I've figured out so far, I should have a separate phone number, at least one (or more?) email accounts, a pre-paid CC (where do I get this from?), a paypal account, and a good system for tracking everything. How do y'all keep notes and records? It seems like this is really important. Any specific site that you would recommend starting with - that would be easy and encouraging? Any other crucial things I should know at the get-go? I know most of you participating in this thread are really experienced. Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie.

I'm having trouble with the freebies (I haven't even tried the offers yet! ). I've had 5 out of 6 freebies denied on DBP. I'm using a Mac, so I'm wondering if that's part of the problem. Here's what I do:

I log into the GPT site and find the offer I want
I click on the freebie and then clear my cache (if I do it before clicking, I get logged out of the GPT site and can't bring up the freebie)
I do the address info and some of the survey (just click "no" to all of it--until I get to a page that wants me to sign up for something)
Then I go back to the GPT site and enter the email address and click "Submit"
But since I've cleared my cookies (and have no way to save certain ones without ccleaner), I have to log back into the GPT site, find the freebie again, and then enter the email address and hit "Submit" again.

As I said above, almost eveything has been denied. Any thoughts?

Thanks! Kelly

clearing the cookies BEFORE you do the offer is crucial. the whole point of cookies is to TRACK what your doing so when you clear them AFTER you click on the offer its clearing the tracking that they MUST have in order to give you credit. i know that its logging you out and I am not sure how other mac users are getting around this but at the very least go to the login page of the gpt site, clear cookies, then go to the offer. this will let only a FEW cookies be on your computer but still enough that tracking should work. if a mac user has a better idea then pipe up!!!

I'm on a Mac, too, and have a pretty good approval rate.

I clear my cookies, THEN log into DBP & click on the offer, then complete it. I leave the pages open for a minute or two, then clear my cookies and start over. (You will have to log into DBP again.)

Let me make sure I've got this right. After you complete the offer and leave your pages open for a minute, do you then enter your email on the GPT site / submit the offer before clearing cookies again?

Since those 5-6 freebies didn't track and were denied, does that mean I can complete them again? Probably not since the companies already have info from me, but I figure I'd ask!

Thanks for the clarification,

Yes, that's right. After completing the offer I submit my email on the GPT site right away. Then let everything sit for a minute or so, then clear cookies and start over.

DBP won't let you re-do an offer that didn't credit; it disappears from the list I believe.

Sorry if this has been covered, but are there any GPT sites that Canadians can do? I have a couple of friends in Canada who are interested in GPTs but they said that they couldn't do the sites I told them about (Deal Barbie, Fusion Cash, and Cash Duck).
