I am findign such conflicting info on the safety of peppermint oil during pregnancy.

I am getting terrible headaches DAILY and a migraine at least twice a week. I'm miserable.

Can I use peppermint oil topically? I'm planning on diluting it in a carrier oil and rubbing it on temples and base of neck.

That is what I used when the pain wasn't too unbearable. It helped for the most part.

I've use a blend of peppermint and eucalyptus in a carrier lotion for both my first pg and this one for sinus issues applying to temples/forehead nightly and have had no problems!
Good Luck!

I use peppermint oil all the time. I use it for headaches and in my cleaners and as an air freshner.

I was wondering this myself. Early in 1st trimester I used peppermint oil to control a bad headache. Didn't apply it topically, just sniffed from the lid of the oil bottle. Then later I read that it shouldn't be used, so now I'm unsure. I definitely haven't had any side effects that I'm aware of.

I have had terrible daily headaches this pregnancy, too, and used peppermint oil one time topically. But what REALLY helped me was starting magnesium supplements (I use Natural Calm). I haven't had a headache in about 4 weeks since I started it, except for the one day I skipped it.

Good luck. Headaches suck, especially when you're pregnant!

I had nasty migraines until I started going to the chiropractor - a couple adjustments and I haven't had one since. It was worth every penny!

I know that doesn't answer your question, but it sounds like if you're having daily headaches, you need something to address the root of the problem (which may or may not be chiropractic), not just to treat the symptoms, kwim?

Thanks, I've been desperate to find the trigger. I've been seeing a chiropractor but it hasn't helped at all. I'm getting a bit tired of shelling out the cash and time on that I was so sure it would help.

I've narrowed it down to 2 causes. Too much sugar, dairy or just plain hormonal. I get these every single month cyclically when I'm not pregnant and these started as soon as I entered the 2nd trimester. yesterday was headache free I didn't eat any refined sugar, dairy and I've been using a pulsating sinus irrigator for the last few days. Surely one of these things will work?!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for today....

Just wanted to add that Tiger Balm on my temples really helps with headaches/occasional migraine. I use the extra strength variety.

Blessed Mama to 4 and expecting one more!

This is timely information for me because I'm miserable with sinus congestion right now. I've been basically useless all day....
