...This might be the wrong section to post under, but I couldn't find anything more applicable and I'm applying only because I'm pregnant and they cover the birth center where I am planning on delivering:
By way of background: My husband has been out of full-time work for 13 months (going on more). I do not work. For the last year, we've been living off unemployment and savings. Thank GOD we don't own a home yet!
As of tomorrow, we'll own a car for the first time in months after spending a long time searching for one to replace our old car which was totalled in an accident. The new car is mostly paid for by the insurance settlement with the extra from our savings. We're NOT financing anything.
So...I read that medi-cal doesn't just look at your income (which last year was effectively $0), they look at what you own as well - like a car. IS it really possible that I could be disqualified from MC because we just bought a car???
Thanks for any advice. I came here because I've seen several other women mention that they're on MC...I'm trying to not feel humiliated about it and just remember that it's temporary.
