Hello--my name is Paula and my EDD is July 6th. This will be my second child--I have a 5 year old DS named Wolfgang. I am fairly new to the boards and have found them to be quite addictive!

I am exploring options for birth now. Am currently with a midwife for a hospital birth. She's not the earthy, crunchy kind of midwife I would prefer... (hospital would be okay--last time got there at 9 cm and never had any pain whick I attribute to studying aikido for three years prior to birth) If i can find a CNM to do a homebirth that would be great--my insurance won't cover a CPN and we can't come up with $2400 right now. So a little in limbo land right now--nothing new! Not feeling a spiritual attachment to my apartment now--would definately need to work on that for a homebirth.

Food--definately wierd. Sick in first tri. Lost weight and at 17 weeks I have not gained any weight. I tend to fixate on one main thing for several days. Last one was cheese quesedillas.
My diet definately is not as good as last pg--I did lots of protein drinks and green drinks. Someone mentioned green drinks as a no-no during pregnancy--never heard that before. I did barley grass all through last time--plan to start soon unless I hear otherwise!

Welcome wolfmama! Hopefully someone has an answer to your green drink question - because I hadn't heard anything either.

I probably need to re-introduce myself! I have been lurking on the thread, but because I usually am on the internet at work, I have felt guilty posting (instead of working). It's good to know that many are feeling better - I am too. I'm sending non-nauseous thoughts to those who aren't feeling better yet !

My background info - this is our second child (as my signature indicates), and I am beginning to get excited. For a while when I was nauseous and really not feeling "pregnant" I was a little ho-hum about pregnancy. After the nausea was gone I would forget sometimes that I was pregnant. Last week I almost lifted our 120 pound dog out of the truck bed until I remembered that I was pregnant and that probably wouldn't feel very good! This week I have felt the baby move about once every other day (I am almost 14 weeks), and that has really made me excited again! I also told my boss about this pregnancy and the fact that I don't intend to come back to work after the birth. I am really excited to be a SAHM again - I was home with ds until he was 1 1/2 years old.

Congratulations on everyone who is planning a homebirth! I know that Mothers and MIL's can get opinionated, but just remember that it is your body, your child and your life! It sounds like you are all handling the situation well. As for me - we are planning a hospital birth due to many factors and I'm comfortable with that decision. I just need to make sure that my doctor is aware of my very non-interventive desires!

Michelle - Mom to 3 very wonderful and very active boys

WOW! Another Dane! What a fabulous name !!

Hi everyone - I'm around and lurking and posting a bit. I don't usually have the time to read this whole thread in one sitting and I get really confused about who is who... I know, I'm terrible (should I blame my advanced age or pregnancy?).

Welcome to so many new July mamas!

My m/s is almost all the way over. If my dinner is too low in protein then I sometimes feel a little sick in the morning, but a protein snack of some kind gets me past it quickly. I'm "showing" but sometimes it feels more like bloat than baby. I don't feel movement yet, but don't really expect to (didn't feel Lars at all until 24 weeks nor Dane until 21 weeks).

My next prenatal appt is in two weeks (I'll be around 16 weeks then). I would like to convince her to change my due date forward (I went to 41 weeks with both of my others and I think my date should be 7/31 because of when I o'd in the cycle I conceived) so that they aren't pushing me on induction right at what they think is 42 weeks.

Back a couple of pages ago someone asked if subsequent babies were smaller. I've always heard the opposite. It was true for mine!

wolfmama ~ my midwife is also a CNM, and more clinical than crunchy. I'm still glad to have a midwife (had a whole pack of OB's last time), but I'd rather have a CPN and homebirth. But we are going with the hospital birth that our insurance covers.

At least that is the current plan. I hope to know in the next few weeks if we are moving the last week in June. If it works out that we can move to my hometown, I'm all for it. If not, I don't know what we'll do. I can hardly stand the thought of living here for another year.

My lower back is already aching! I need to make some time to see my chiropractor. Next week is going to be a real back killer - lots of long rehearsals and time on the road.

But my energy level is greatly improved. I'm glad to be past that awful m/s phase, and back to taking my vitamins.
