Just checking...I'm apparently killing my family with bad gas lately and they're begging me to take enzymes. Are they safe?

I take enzymes for heartburn and they work great. It depends on what is in the particular brand you want to take, but enzymes alone are safe. I take Garden of Life Ultra omegazyme and did during my last pregnancy as well without any problems.

I've been taking "Integrative Therapeutics, Inc. Tyler Similase" enzymes. I mentioned to my midwife I was taking enzymes yesterday and she didn't even ask any specifics or seem concerned at all, so I'm guessing they're safe. She also recommended specifically papaya enzymes to help with my acid reflux.

I take papaya enzymes too also recommended by my midwife for heartburn. They seem to help and my two year old loves them too.

I take Papaya Enzymes after lunch and dinner. This may be TMI, but they help me stay 'regular', especially if I'm not getting enough veggies or fiber. I also give them to my kids when they seem constipated. HTH
