I'm almost in the third trimester and I want to make sure I'm preparing my body for birth. What herbs and/or supplements are best to take?

I'm already taking Rainbow Light Prenatals (which have rrl in them), I drink rrl tea, and take fish oil as well.

Should I be taking evening primrose? Blue or black cohash? Anything else?

I have heard about starting to take Evening Primrose Oil about 4 weeks prior to your "due date." Starting with putting some directly inside you for 2 weeks to soften the cervix, then moving to pills/supplements for 2 weeks.

I am not an expert and I have not done a lot of research on this as I am in my 1st pregnancy at 29 weeks. But I found out from a friend who is having her 4th naturally any day now. I plan to do more research on it soon. Let me know what you find out!

I take prenatal vits, as well as RRL and EPO.

The EPO I begin taking at 24 wks and increase it until 36 wks. I now take it three times a day as well as vaginally at night (I am now 36wks). I continue this until I deliver.

The RRLT I drink three cups a day as well as take in capsule form three times a day.

Any misspellings or grammatical errors in the above statement are intentional;

Starting at 36 weeks I take EPO orally. Starting at 38 weeks I take cramp bark, wild yam and motherwort tincture, 10 drops each, 2-3 times a day. At 39 weeks I up that to 20 drops each 2-3 times a day. The cramp bark and wild yam are uterine toners and the motherwort is good for anxiety and to help keep your blood pressure down. I would stay away from the cohash unless you are overdue and even then, make sure you are being guided by someone who knows how to use it. Its pretty potent stuff that can have an effect on the baby.
