Has anyone heard of or tried labor-ade before? I got the recipe from my hypnobirthing instructor at the last class, and was wondering if anyone here has used it, and what the outcome was.

Goodness, you'd think I could read. Sorry, haven't tried it. Good luck, tho. Dr Sears recommends it. I trust him!

I tried to use it...but I made it and then it tasted so bad that I couldn't do it...really salty.

Just my experience...maybe you have a better recipe!

i think it's a good idea. I think part of the reason my transition last time was so rough had to do with being hungry/ thirtsy. Be sure to try your recipe before labor though!

Here's the recipe I was given:

to sip after every other contraction/surge
1/3 c. lemon juice (energy)
1/3 c. honey (energy)
1/4-1/2 tsp salt (prevents dehydration)
1/4 tsp baking soda (calms the stomach)
1-2 calcium tablets, with magnesium, crushed (relaxes muscles)

Add enough water to make 1 qt (one litre for us Canadians). Add either an additional cup of water or a cup of your favorite juice to flavor the beverage.

The salt in this recipe seems pretty minimal...I haven't tried making it yet though. Pinky, did your recipe have more salt?

I think it's the baking soda that adds to the salty taste....

Hey- I'm due on Monday- anyone know any "Labor AID" tips? As in; eat eggplant parmesean to bring on labor...

:LOL
Not that I'm really in any hurry but I was thinking it would be neat to have a spring solstice baby....
