pretty please!! we have our first name definitely picked out, and we think we have the middle name picked out, but i'm not 100% sold on it yet. we want the middle name to start with A...any ideas? we don't want anything popular.

DD1 has an old family (Scottish) name as her middle name: Alafair.

From alternativebabynames.com:
Alafair: A girl's name. A lovely feminine name of unknown meaning.
First seen in the early 1700's in Scotland and England.

I also really like Avery.

Good luck!

My DD2's middle name is Acacia. We include some kind of tree name in all of our kids' names, I like the impression of strength and vitality it gives. This baby's middle name would have been Ash if she were a boy, though I think it could work for a girl, too.

I wanted to name DD Ayla, but it got vetoed pretty harshly by DH. Apparently there's a character in a video game (Chrono Trigger) that's an unintelligent cave woman. It' supposed to be a reference to Clan of the Cave Bear, the Earth's Children Series. The Earth's Children series eventually turned into a porn book series by the fourth book.

How about the name Azalea? Azaleas are flowers which symbolize temperance, passion and womanhood.

And other A names inspired by flowers include:

Amaryllis - The meaning of amaryllis flowers is pride, timidity and splendid beauty. girl's name is pronounced am-ah-RILL-iss. It is of Greek origin, and the meaning of Amaryllis is "fresh, sparkling". Also the name of a flower. A poetic name for a simple shepherdess or country girl.

You could also go with a variant of Alice, such as Alise. http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Alice

Or how about Aida?
