I crave coffee. My Dr said it was ok to drink.I seen online that Barley sprouts can cause birth defects & miscarriage. So now I am scared to drink this.

The ingredients say Barley,Malted Barley,Chicory,Rye.

I drank cebada, a toasted barley drink, and ecco, a toasted barley coffee substitute throughout pregnancy. They're popular drinks in both Peru and Japan. Never heard anything about them being unsafe for pregnancy. This Babycenter article lists toasted barley tea as one of the "safe" teas.

raising my two sunshine children.

Where are you purchasing the Pero at? I can not find it stateside. I have my sister mail me some from Germany, It's called Caro over there, but it is the same exact thing.  I would be interested in knowing where you get it here. Thanks

Susanne

You can get Pero at Whole Foods and at Amazon.  I drank that for a bit but fell in love with Teecchino - delicious and tastes more like coffee to me.  Vanilla nut is delcious and Hazelnut is good but very strong in flavor.

Thanks! I never thought of whole foods. I grew up on that stuff... The nearest whole foods to me is 3 hrs away.  I live in Louisiana where there is not a whole lot. Thanks!

My grandmother gets Pero from the Vermont Country Store.

Women all over Asia drink Barley tea, I love the stuff myself.

Barley sprouts are different from the grain.

In the 50s, women smoked and tried not to gain too much weight.

I thought chickory was a highly effective antioxidan.
