slylives, when I was pregnant last time, there was no indication that my son wanted out at all. Not a single contraction the entire pregnancy, the doctor didn't say he'd be out soon, no dilation, nothing. Then, we had our birth preparation lesson at 38 weeks (yeah, we were procrastinators, but I wanted to find one in English, so we ended up with a private session with a midwife). Anyway, that night after the lesson, I woke up to pee and started having really strong contractions. Just over 2 hours later, our little boy was born. Barely made it to the hospital, ha. I think babies have minds of their own and can change them quickly. winky.gif

Well, morning sickness has kicked my butt and I've barely been checking e-mail, let alone MDC. Just wanted to update. Had an appointment Tuesday, and the baby looks good with a nice little heartbeat. Dr. couldn't get a good lock on the heartbeat with the doppler so she pulled in the portable sono and did a quick one. Baby was dancing around which is why we had the problem with the doppler, lol. Boy, was that a beautiful sight!

I'll be 12 weeks on Saturday. Hoping the MS goes away soon. Tried Zofran which didn't help, but I picked up a Phenergan RX today and that seems to be doing the trick.

I have an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday to talk about genetic stuff. Maybe we'll find out a cause to the past m/cs or at least just get some advice on this pg.

How is everyone? I've missed so many messages on BSL proper that I'm scared to go back over there. Not sure I can bring myself to sit in front of the computer long enough to read them all.

lavatea, yay for healthy baby!!! I hear you on being behind. I'm reading, but school is really kicking my butt and I'm very exhausted. Three weeks to go! I've decided I have an extremely difficult class this year. I think I was in denial for a long time about that because I couldn't get worked up about it, which is probably for the best. But it would explain my irritation and exhaustion about school. Anyway, I made that about me and not you somehow. blush.gif I hope the morning sickness gets better soon! I think it's the hardest of the symptoms.

Sweet.Bee yay!!! joy.gif What a beautiful little bean!!!

How's everybody else?

Slylives, any action? How are you feeling? Are you sick of people asking you that? goodvibes.gif

miriam, you're second trimester now! thumb.gif Are you feeling any better? Don't feel like a wimp: if I could be home from work, I would. It's unbelievably draining and I go one day at a time. And I whine a lot (still all totally worth it though!). There are pregnant ladies at school who walk around smiling and cheerful and I don't understand how they do it. They make me feel like a wimp. lol... Take it easy, hon!

We had another appointment this morning and our OB said that we could get another u/s covered by insurance starting at 32 weeks. She said she wasn't concerned at all, but if we wanted it we could. Hubby and I looked at each other and said...um...YEAH! And we can get it 3D if we want! whoa, cool! So we have an appointment a week from Monday. Stay healthy and strong, little girl!!!

We had our second childbirth class and watched some birthing videos. I was a little bummed that in both videos they presented people who chose medication. I hope they show us one that is completely natural, because I felt like they were sending the message that even the ones that want to deliver naturally eventually give in. I know that's not true (exhibit A: Carlyle, my amazing sister, who delivered an 11lb2oz beauty this fall without medication), but still...

lavatea, I hope your nausea calms down. I think mine is worse than last time, and it's still getting worse.

Tear, maybe you could ask the instructor to play a video of an unmedicated birth? I would be nice for them to show some variety. BTW, I gave birth unmedicated last time, though admittedly it was a fast labor. Hoping for the same this time around. smile.gif

miriam, sorry you're not feeling well. Pregnancy definitely has its ups and downs. And yay for showing! I'm already sporting somewhat of a bump and in maternity bottoms some of the time (most of my clothes are low rise, otherwise I'd be in only maternity clothes, I think). I'm definitely showing earlier than last time. Too bad it's just bloat and not baby yet (I think I've gained like 1kg and it's probably all water)!

Thanks, you guys. love.gif It's not that I need more birth videos, per se...it's just more that I'm disappointed and a little disheartened that the hospital I'm planning on giving birth at put forth this subliminal message. We mentioned it to our OB and she said, "oh...wow....mind if I bring that feedback back to them?" She wanted them to show the natural one first, too. That made me feel better. I still have a good feeling about the hospital overall, so I'll focus on that.

Sweet.Bee, thanks for the inspiration! I hope this birth is goes the way you want it to as well.

miriam, I'm glad the babies are doing well! Sorry you're feeling tired and lousy. I think you might be on the cusp of the hormones getting easier, though. My nausea started easing up around 15-16 weeks, so hopefully your headaches will do the same. You're about where the hcg levels peak, I think. Yay, for showing! I bet you look beautiful!

Hey Ladies…

Just stopped in for a quick read-through and had to reply to Tear!

I’m not sure which hospital you are delivering at, Tear, but where I delivered nobody pushed pain medication on me. (You can PM me where if you want and I'll tell you where I did!) Granted, I did end up with Pitocin both times for failure to progress and that was stinky… but no nurse, resident, midwife, or doctor ever suggested I get pain medication. They put it out there as an option… but it never was pushed.

Both times I did end up with an epidural – though I held out as long as I could with Caleb (but that “butt” labor was excruciating, I really thought he was going to break my tailbone). But I had to ask for it and then wait around for it!

So despite what they show in the videos… I think you should be in a good place!

Hi to everyone else! So happy to hear about all the healthy and vigorously growing baby-beans and baby-bumps!

Caleb will be ONE this month!!!!! Where oh where did the time go????

Tear - Nice to hear from you!  I miss our old BSL/Infertility days together.  Pregnancy somehows keeps me occupied!  I do post occasionally to the DDC and around, especially since work is slow, but in general I am just less into the internet.  Anyway...just wanted to say that the Bradley Classes I am taking only show unmedicated, natural births.  So I have some suggestions for them if they are interested!

We are still totally planning an unmedication birth.  But, of course, I need this baby to turn!  He's still sideways.  :(

Miriam - Oh, it's so nice to hear about your pregnancy.  Even with all it's aches and pains (and believe me, I have a ton as well and complain to DH all the time).  I am so happy for you!

I am actually feeling really slow and tight today.  I can't believe I still have 2 months (or so) to go!  32 weeks tomorrow...

Nothing to report! Dilated to 2cm and 50% effaced - same as last week. So much for my Mama's intuition that this baby was coming early - due date is Monday. I saw a photo of myself taken yesterday and now understand why people have been asking me if I'm having twins (although I still think it's an incredibly rude question to ask!)  So I am not feeling great. It is also 102 degrees here in Minneapolis, which doesn't help. I am having the odd sporadic contraction but nothing more. Feel as though I am carrying a bowling ball between my legs, and I have been sitting on the yoga ball to try and help open my pelvis. A bit concerned that I am opening it too much - when I get up I have to inch my feet back together and wait a minute before I can actually start walking!

Sorry this is all about me - just feeling hot, fat and p*ssed off today. I'll be better tomorrow, I'm sure...

Have you considered going to a chiropractor? I have had a lot of back/shoulder issues (I have scoliosis, which can result in even more backache in pregnancy) and my chiro works miracles. I was a little concerned about having adjustments in pregnancy, but it feels so wonderful afterwards. Lots of insurance companies cover the treatments, too.

It really is hard to keep up with posting frequently nowadays, isn't it? And it's not like I'm doing much over here, but my attention and energy are just totally diverted lately. I'm glad to read that all of you are doing well, though! (Sly-- any updates on Critter???)

On my end, I'm still dealing with some tricky headaches. It seems nothing will touch them-- even the "don't take this too often" meds the doctor gave me aren't working anymore. Probably not a bad thing, because you have to stop taking them at least 5 weeks before giving birth (risk of the babies being born jittery and having seizures!) and with twins, I could go early so there's no way to reasonably know when that cutoff would be. I hate being in constant pain, but I don't want to hurt the babies!

I'm having a lot of joint/back issues as well. I think a lot of it is just the hormone stuff, since I'm only measuring 4 weeks ahead (so "19 weeks", just about). I did sone gardening with my mom yesterday for a few hours and she did most of the really physical stuff, but even today I still can barely walk! Really, really glad I stopped working...

The babies are doing great, even if I'm breaking wink1.gif last appt at 14w1d we had two easy-to-find heartbeats--Baby A's was low 150s and Baby B's was low 140s. Appt before that it was about the same-- 153 and 148. Gender ultrasound on June 27th at exactly 18 weeks, because I am impatient. wink1.gif

Starting to really show, finally. I'm sure most people show before now, but not us fat girls, so I'm excited!

Hi guys!! It's so fun to read about everyone's pregnancies!

I'll second the rec for seeing a Chiro. I'm certain that's what made the difference in taking 6 hours to push vs 5 or 6 total pushes (and entirely involuntary - I didn't even have to try lol) to birth my babies. I know that the first helps to blaze the trail and all but that was the only different thing I did.

miriam, great belly pics! I am so jealous of your real baby(babies) bump. I still need to get mine posted. I've been doing them since week 4, and it's a good thing because there is already quite a difference. Not so much baby bump as bloated bump, though. winky.gif

slylives, don't listen to people who imply you are big. Most people have zero perspective when it comes to pregnant bellies and even less sense when speaking to pregnant women. When I still had 2 months to go until my EDD last time, a number of people called me huge or were shocked that I still had so long to go. Then you get the helpful comments of how huge you will be by the time you deliver, how big the baby will be, and blah, blah, blah. Don't listen to them! A lot of the "fat" look is just bloat and water/blood retention anyway. And my son was born at only the 25th percentile in weight (just over 3000 grams), so I did not even have a huge baby like people claimed. He does have a big head, though, the stubborn cutie. orngtongue.gif

When did everyone's nausea go away? Mine is getting worse every week (baby will be 9 weeks on Sunday), and it's already worse than last time. Sure, it's reassuring, but feeling so icky for weeks on end is getting tough.

Oh, hon, I hate to say it but it took until week 15 for me!  :(  Not the best part of the pregnancy.  Actually the best part was probably weeks 27-30 or so.  Now I am just getting big and slowing down and my ankles are swelling, etc.  I am 32 weeks.

I found that the best thing was to keep eating small meals.

Unfortunately, I have to second this. I thought at 12 weeks it was all going to clear up, but my nausea actually just somehow changed at that point. I spent a few weeks where the all-the-time nausea was less, but the times when I was nauseous were more intense and I actually started throwing up sometimes. I think by about 15-16 weeks I started to feel better most of the time. It was definitely a hard time, but it did pass and I moved on to other things, which was a relief. that being said, every pregnancy is different and you could start feeling better earlier. hug.gif Hang in there!

TMI - but what the hell - I lost my mucous plug yesterday morning. With my daughter, I lost it right as labour started, so I was hopeful that something might happen...but it didn't. Still fat and rather uncomfortable! I went to my chiro for my last prenatal pelvic adjustment, but she said it wasn't necessary - baby and pelvis are perfectly positioned and good to go. I'm trying to communicate this to the baby - COME OUT!!

Feeling OK though. Resting as much as possible, and resisiting the urge to pack more boxes (we are putting our house on the market in a month or so, and will be moving into our new house in a couple of months. Selling a house, renovating a house and having a baby - whose idea was it to do all of this at the same time?!

Miriam, it's interesting you say that, because I haven't gone to prenatal yoga in two weeks because of a busy schedule, and my hips and legs are hurting SO bad. It has been hot as can be for a couple days, too, though. But I think yoga tomorrow will really help...

ETA - oh, WHOA! I missed that there was another page of posts! slylives, "woot!" for passing your mucous plug! I can't believe you have all those things going on at the same time. C'mon, little critter, make this easy on mama!

No Critter yet - I was so convinced that s/he would be early. Wrong! I was hoping that today, being our wedding anniversary, might be the day. Well, I have 2 hours and 11 minutes to go, but pretty sure that's wrong too... I'll let you know when Critter is here. On the plus side, we now have a boy name and a girl name picked out. So Critter is only temporary  lol.gif

Hi All,

Sorry I've been MIA for sooooo long! I admit, I too have had a little time to lurk and loosely follow all the new Grads - but no energy to post lately.

A big congrats to all the new Grads.

Slylives- I can't believe you are so close already!!!

Tear, I've been wishing for summer on your behalf for MONTHS now! Seems you've had a rough year at school at times. Only what- 2 or 3 weeks now?! COngrats! You deserve a nice loooong rest.

MBA- Congrats on quitting the job!! It must be so nice to be home while pregs. Enjoy the time off while you can actually relax, if you let yourself! I can't imagine cooking twins, it must be exhausting. You have some fellow Grads who can clue you in here! Hope your back and neck issues get resolved soon, sounds like the yoga will elp if you get back into that. I had the best intentions with that. I hear you with the upper back (and lower back) issues from carrying the huge boobs. Ooof. Heavy. My posture is terrible now, esp after nursing for nearly a year!

Nanette- love those boys! What an adorable little family. You are doing so well for them!!! I'm reading your updates on FB. You are amazing. That is all.

Kelly- thanks for checking in!! Your girls are just gorgeous. Lucky mommy and daddy. Hope you and DH are well too, your girls seem to be growing beautifully!

Lis- thanks for sharing pic of Caleb, oooh so cute. You go out in a field with him on your hip? AV would love that. I will look into the ring sling. My back and hips kill by the end of the day from that heavy girl. Sorry to hear you're up so late working some nights, but so nice that you can be home with C.  Is Caleb still nursing too? I forget if I read that.

Lyndzies- Thanks for sharing your little miss too! she is getting so big! I know what you mean about being over the moon. Motherhood is amazing. The wait was long and hard, but ooooh so worth it. Good for you for sticking with the pumping and nursing. AV HATED formula too when she tried it while i was in the hospital. HATED. I will admit, I wasnt that upset about it. But, as a working mom, is it some added pressure? (it was when i was working... stress.!!) With adding some foods, hopefully that's helping alleviate some of that pressure. You're doing great- she's growing perfectly!!

Maurine- 32 weeks the last time you checked in- where is the time going?! SO close! I need to check that 1st page to see who's getting up there with you.

Any word from slylives? maybe she went before her due date?

Jane- a boy!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Oh Mama- what a long road it's been to get to this little man. xo

Those ladies I missed, I'm sorry. I am half brained most of the time, due to sleep deprivation, and a constant mid- to high-level of stress. Self inflicted, but still- it's my only real excuse.

I was just getting into the swing of things (after the gall bladder thing) when we decided to start casually looking at new houses. Seems even with living "simply" with baby items, we've somehow outgrown our little house. On Mother's Day we went to an open house, and found our new home!!! We put in an offer about 10 days later, and had to get our house ready to sell within 10 days. We got an offer here after 3 days! So, now we're under contract on this house to sell, and on the new one to buy, settling in 6 weeks. I packed up half our house in the first 10 days and sent it to storage so we could be "showing ready" and now I dont mind our house (now that there's so much space with 1/2 our stuff gone!!!) It's bittersweet. So many memories in this house, but the new one will eventually have more, proportionally. When I walked into the main bedroom, I said to DH, "This would be perfect for a homebirth." HA! Really, it would be. but not for some time... !

Seems I'm always looking for SOMETHING to keep me at stress level 10.

AV is incredible; I'm smitten. She is the most hilarious, adorable little person. SO smart, though DH and I are certain she will be quite the handful when she's walking, which could be any week now. She is army crawling- adorable- and seems uninterested in regular crawling, since she's become so efficient. She's pulling up and starting to cruise around if there's something she finds particularly interesting nearby- the remote, house phone, my cell phone, or anything made of paper. HA! Crawling into, under and on top of things quite well and with such glee. Also pretty attached to mommy, but seems OK as long as I'm not within sight. Must be the age, Lis! She will be 11 months next week. I can NOT believe how quickly this time has gone.  Has 6 teeth through, 7th coming in now. Loves to eat anything that's on my plate, but if I put it on hers, she's indifferent. Silly goosey. Still needs purees if I want her to actually get enough to eat, since playing and smushing food between her fingers is more enjoyable than the actual chewing AND swallowing (chewing and spitting it out all over or rubbing in hair- now that's a real good time!). STTN is still not happening, though it has happened a few times, but a fluke I think! wakes 1x at least to nurse, and I dont mind. Like Lyndzies said, it's time that we won't always have. Not that I wont be happy to sleep a full night someday...... but she seems to be getting closer each night to at least a 5-7 hour stretch (PLEASE!?)

Here are 2 little pics of her, from about a month ago. Havent uplaoded the new ones to the comp yet.

The first we call, "the Pose" because she does this VERY often. Loves to lay like this!  The second, just another random one, sorry for the red eye. She looks tired in the second- must have been before nap time! but oh her cheeks. :)

Hope you all are well!

Links to belly pics: 4 weeks, 8 weeks. Not much to see, but I think there's already a difference.

Thanks for the comments on nausea. Last time, I had something similar to what Tear described, but this time it's been worse. Mostly because it started earlier, I think, which wears me down after awhile.

Sly - Oh boy oh boy!  S/he's coming soon!  Come on critter!  :)

LZP  - Wow, you are so busy!  Can't believe that you found and sold a place so quickly.  It took us 10 months to find ours.  Your daughter is so cute!!

Here is a pic of my belly.  This was about a week and a half ago and I am feeling SO much bigger already!   I want to quit work now!

thinking of you, slylives! Here's a little cheerleading dance for Critter! bellyhair.gif

Sweet.bee, what a cute belly! I can't wait to see it get all big and round! I hear you on the nausea wearing you down. I remember looking at how many weeks were potentially left feeling like that, and it was hard. It DID pass, though I wondered if it would.

Maurine, I hear you on wanting to just stay home. How long do you have to keep working? I've been whining a lot, but I should stop soon because school is over next Friday.

Liz, what...a....CUTIE!!! Thanks for sharing pics. love.gif I'm glad that your house sold quickly, though I'm sure it's stressful. I'm glad you're not still working through all this change and added stress! My parents just sold their home, the one Carlyle and I grew up in, and it was SURREAL and painful to walk through it and just have all these memories wash over me. Poor Carlyle didn't really get to say goodbye to it yet. I know what you mean about bittersweet. Your new home will build up its own very special memories, just like my parents' new one will: it's the one our little girl will hopefully build lots of memories in!

We had our u/s today, to check on the little girl and make sure everything is still ok, and she did look wiggly and healthy! love.gif She had her little adorable face pushed up against her twin's placenta, which I was amazed to see is actually about 5cmx4cm. That's pretty big, and we'll hopefully be able to identify it at birth. The little darling girl was sooooo cute, and she was playing with her foot and yawning and wiggling all around. We got a good face shot, and her chin was down which made her little cheeks pudge all out adorably. I'm not biased, btw, she was really the cutest baby EVER! love.gif I can't believe how strongly I love her, it's just amazing!!! She's just got to stay healthy and strong! I can't wait to meet this little one and see her grow up!

MW appointment today - still dilated to 2cm, 50% effaced. So no change in the last 2 weeks. Had a non-stress test, which went great, but an ultrasound showed fluid levels that were "at the high end of normal". Not quite hydramnios levels, but pretty high. The ultrasound tech frightened me with tales of cord prolapses, but the MW wasn't overly concerned. Although she said that if my water breaks we should head in right away. Apparently the biggest risk is that the baby will float around and change position, and if I had a big gush of water, there is a small risk of the cord prolapsing and falling into the birth canal before the head drops down to plug the gap. Thankfully Critter's head is low, which I think explains the MW's not overly concerned attitude, but still. Not the ideal appointment to have. I am trying to put it out of my mind.  Had my membranes swept again - OUCH! - and will return on Friday to have it done again. And then my mother arrives from England on Saturday, which presents its own set of "issues"..

Interestingly, MW examined me and said that she didn't think that the baby was that big - around 8lbs, she guessed. Ultrasound estimated 11 lb 4oz!! I know ultrasound can be quite inaccurate at this stage, so I am hoping for somewhere in between. Tear, wasn't it your sister who had an 11lber? Tell me it can be done...

slylives, I can only imagine the worry and imagination that would set in while waiting at the last stages. I'm glad your mw is feeling mellow about things. Yes, my niece was 11lb 2oz, and Carlyle delivered her at home with no pain meds. She is my inspiration. You can do this! goodvibes.gif
