We've pretty much told everyone we aren't telling til she's born and most are surprisingly ok with that- though we never see our family since we are 1200 miles away. I'm sure in person we would probably get more pestering to tell the name.

But we have called her Mei Ling, even before we knew it was girl. I saw it was the name of someone's cat and told DF too bad we aren't Asian, that I thought it was a pretty name. Then we got in a hilarious discussion about what people's reactions would be if we (white as can be) name our child an Asian name. So her nickname became Mei Ling. Even now that she has a real name (Magnolia), we still sometimes call her Mei Ling when talking about her or to her. I'm sure once she's born it might continue on as a nickname.
