You know, I think Calvin is really cool (ok, I really love Calvin&Hobbes bag.gif )... and maybe it wouldn't be too weird even if you're Calvinists? I mean I obviously don't know how often, for example, you mention "Calvin" in relation to your religion, or if the historic Calvin is an important person within the religion today (I mean are celebrations given in his honor or something) or anything, I'm really ignorant about calvinism redface.gifredface.gif so it's hard for me to get a picture of how strange it would be... but it's a nice name!

Heh; no, no celebrations in his honour. :p Calvinism is the name of the theological system rather than the denomination (I'm Reformed Baptist), and it's not like the name gets mentioned a lot in our church services and so on... but in apologetics and online debates and so on, the word "Calvinism" comes up quite a bit, so I'm... aware of it, if you know what I mean? And it's unusual enough as a name that people in Reformed circles would associate it automatically with John Calvin - whereas, say, Martin (as in Martin Luther) or Owen (for John Owen) aren't as immediately obvious. I suspect we'd get a fair few people saying "Heh".

You're probably right, though. I do love the name. I like Calvin and Hobbes too, but I particularly like the name from A Wrinkle in Time - there was a boy in it called Calvin (Cal for short, I think?), who was just a sweetheart. I'm not sure DH likes Calvin as much as some of our other contenders, though... a friend of his has a little brother who was recently arrested for smashing up a supermarket with a baseball bat, so I think that puts him off a little. :p

We haven't come to any firm conclusions about names, sadly. I'm beginning to suspect we'll go with Miles after all. I'm semi-resigned to that.

If decomposition persists please see your necromancer.

Lyle?  Cole?  Leo?  Cade?

I like Leo Cole or Greyson Cade a lot.

I also like soft, earthy names, but it's so hard not too get too hippied out with them.
