Maybe it's because this is my 3rd so I am noticing it sooner, I don't know, but it's bizarre. I feel that tightening feeling in my lower abdomen CONSTANTLY. Not painful of course, so I am not worried that they're real contractions.

I've honestly just never heard of this before and you'd think I would have it all figured out by now. 17 weeks seems a bit early- I can't even feel my baby's movements yet let alone braxton hicks? That's something that I didn't start feeling until at least 30 weeks with the last 2 pregnancies. Curious if anyone is in the same boat

Absolutely possible!  I'm on number 4 and I've felt them earlier each time.  This time, I've had what are very obviously BH contractions since 9 weeks.

Yep me too!  I started feeling them around 15/16 weeks or so with this baby.  This is my 2nd pregnancy.  Asked the doc and it's totally normal.

I'm only on my first, but recently did some reading.  From what I've read, BH normally start around 20 weeks (though some women don't notice them that early) ,but with subsequent pregnancies they start earlier and/or you notice them earlier.  So I'd say 17 weeks is perfectly normal, especially since you're on #3.  Good luck!

Braxton Hicks contractions start as soon as the pregnancy begins, but you don't always notice it! Generally speaking we begin to feel them around the beginning of the second trimester, but any time is possible. I began to notice mine at 23ish and 12ish weeks.
