Sounds interesting, don't know how it is to be pronounced, and it's visually pretty.

Okay, that's the pronunciation that I assumed. It's beautiful.

I saw one of the movies. Who had that name?

Frig it was the mom! I love that name but didn't know it was Twilight related. I told my sis we were considering it for a girl and she blurts right out "Twilight!!" I was like "Oh no!"

I don't want her to get made fun of or for people to think I named her after the movie KWIM?

I guess I was hoping no one would know hide.gif

I picked "what a cute name" because it fit best out of all the choices (no fricken clue about that which is Twilight lol)  and because I don't hate it.  My exact thought was "hmmm, interesting, going to have to think about it."

Yes, I think I do like it.  It is pretty.

Haha, is it in Twilight??  I love the name, have never read/watched Twilight.  However, I know my cousin's a big Twilight fan, and her 1yo is named Esme.  ;)

I don't think any of those things.

I think J.D. Salinger. His classic short story, "For Esme with Love and Squalor" (1950)/

I think of the Salinger story too.  And about the fact that I don't really know how to pronounce it.  Which syllable is the accent on?  In my mind, it's the first, but I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone say it.  (And I'll admit that I'm one of the people who voted "I hate it."  I don't have any good reason to hate it, but I do.)

I think it is cute, but I seem to know a ton of Esmes right now. Also, I teach English as a second language so I have an Esmerelda-who-goes-by-Esme every year. My son is 8, but I recently found out there is a vampire in Twilight with his name, too-- Caius. I think it's ok though. Not the main characters.

I think of Granny Weatherwax from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books.  She's AWESOME!  It was on our list.  It isn't common around here at all.

Twilight. Every bit as much as much as Edward or Bella. Sorry. greensad.gif I do love the name but I don't think you'll be able to escape the association with twilight for quite some time.

I do know someone named Scarlet, her parents had no clue about Gone With the Wind...and the name fits her perfectly, but she's not THE Scarlet at all.

even though I liked twilight I did not think of twilight. I thought of my friend and her beautiful little girl Esme, and when her daughter was born 2 years ago I did not think of twilight. Bella and Cullen are the only names that I immediately associate with twilight.

Courtney and Cree, baby made 3, added one more then there were 4, sakes alive, then we had 5, another in the mix now we have 6!

A Momma in love with her Little Women-Jewel Face, Jo Jo Bean, June Bug, and Sweet Coraline.

I immediately think of the J.D. Salinger story, too.  So I automatically love it.

I think immediately of Twlilight, which is unfortunate because it is a very pretty name.  But I could never name my baby with a Twilight connection no matter how much I loved the name.

How about I hate it because it's from Twilight and way, way too trendy. But I'd far rather Esme than Renesme, which, as a writer, makes me start twitching and wanting to stab my eyeballs with sharp things.

Also, I can't hear the name without thinking, "Esme! Mario!"

I go for neither.  When I see Esme, I think of the shortened version of Esmeralda.  But then again I'm Mexican, and have never read the JD Salinger story, or watched twilight.  I like the name Esmeralda, it's on my list of names.

You do know that Twilight will be long forgotten and if remembered, only as a silly cultural blip by the time this girl is of an age to read it, right? That trash is not going to stand the test of time like J.D. Salinger!
