Me and my fiancee had sex on Nov 13th and the condom broke but instead of worrying about it I just decided to see if my period would come this month! My period was due on the 3rd of Dec but didn't, around the 5th or 6th of December I had one spot of brown blood on my liner... So I waited until the 9th to take a hpt it came back negative. Monday the 12th I woke up throwing up and feeling dizzy so I went to the ER they gave me a urine test that also came back negative.and I also took a first response test and came back negative. It is now the 14th and I still havent had my period which is usually on time, if I am pregnant I would be 4weeks and 3 days today.. Is it a possibility that I could still be pregnant with false negative from the hospital & the hpt??

False negatives are extremely rare.....but not unheard of. I know there have been a couple of ladies around these parts who have had false negatives throughout pregnancy and had to have their pregnancies confirmed via ultrasound.

Much less rare, though, is having an illness, emotional issue, mental stress or something else effect your menstrual cycle, causing your period to be late, or causing spotting, etc.

Keep a log of how you are feeling, what your symptoms are and when you have any spotting, etc, so you can keep an eye on what's happening with you in case you continue to have strange symptoms or your period doesn't come and you need to seek medical advice.

I hope that whatever would make you happiest comes to pass. hug2.gif

Hey ladies I'm new here.My post may be a little long so bare with me.

I don't know if I'm pregnant but I thought I would just share my concerns. I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism since 2010 which may present infertility problems. And if I do manage to conceive it could result in early miscarriages. I've only been trying for 2 months however so I am not overly concerned yet.

My period is due on the 18th or 19th Dec but so far I haven't had any of my usual pre-menstrual symptoms neither do I feel like I have any of the early pregnancy symptoms (at least not that I could identify them clearly). Usually I have very, very sore boobs but I don't have it this time. I also never get cramps but now I feel this extreme tightness in my stomach with mild cramping for the past week.  When I eat regardless of how little I feel over stuffed and bloated and my tops feel rediculously tight after. My stomach is also a little sensitive and heard to the touch.

I feel slightly nauseous on mornings after I eat but that could be becasue I eat breakfast way too late after getting up (10 a.m.). I feel extremely warm but that could be my thyroid. Plus a couple other little things which could also be my thyroid function going crazy which in turn could also be as a result of pregnancy...or not. I get some back pains but my work chair is horrible. I just can't pin it at all.

When you are TTC you pay attention to the slightest things but the anticipation of knowing for sure is killing me but yet the disappointment of getting a BFN will be just as bad or worst. It's even more difficult being unable to tell whether my symptoms are associated with my pending AF or early pregnancy or my Thyroid issues. Yesterday (13th Dec) a first response test gave me a negative but I know I still have until the next week to be sure.

Keeping hope alive nonetheless!! joy.gif

I just wanted to clarify: if your period was due on December 3rd, that would make you 5w 4d pregnant (if you are). You should be able to see a + result easily  within a day or two of a missed period.

If it still doesn't show up, I would call your doctor and get a blood test done.

I've noticed that whenever I had a pregnancy 'scare' in the past, my period always seemed to come late or even skip that month.  I think mostly because I was thinking about it too much.  The mind has incredible sway over the body.  Personally I'd wait it out until over the holidays and just treat my body as though I were pregnant (turn down those hot toddies in favor of spiced cider, take a vitamin with folate etc...) unless there were some other issues that made knowing a must right away.  Obviously we'd all love to know the minute we were pregnant, but unless this pregnancy would likely result in termination, if you have a job working with unsafe materials, or you have other health issues/medications to consider, I'd say the stress of wondering is probably causing the spotting and holding your cycle at bay.

I would go to your regular health care provider and get a blood test done. I had two home pregnancy tests that came back negative when I was 4 and 5 weeks along. But I KNEW that he or she was in there. I had my blood test done and two days later, I had confirmation that I was pregnant.
