Did you catch that breathtaking birth video link posted here and in TAO last week? Well, needless to say, I was so looking forward to showing it to dh. Just as I finally got around to send him the link via e-mail, he walked into the "office" and I told him what I was doing. He said, "why? I don't need to see it."
What an emotional neanderthal.
Of course, I could exaplain why it was important to me that he watch it with me, but after all that, it just wouldn't be the same, and it could mean that he'd sit through it deadpan, which would be painful.
I guess this just goes along with not ever wanting to watch the wedding video, being uninsprired by family photos, laughing through sappy movies. . .
Urgh. . .just venting.

Grrr! Sometimes they can be thickheaded, can't they? I mean, if he thought about it for one second, he'd know that it must be important to you if you were bothering to send it to him. And that should be all that matters.

But I'm pretty sure that even a man who doesn't get emotional over the life events of other people will be surprised at his feelings when it's his own wife and child.

That reminds me! I e-mailed it to mine too (since I want ours photographed and he doesn't, just to show him how COOL and TASTEFUL it can be... though secretly I would not have minded graphic photos, but I can give that up JUST TO HAVE BIRTH PHOTOS DAMMIT!!!) and he hasn't gotten back to me.

Yes, some men are neanderthals. :LOL

I called my husband over and had him look at it. Apparently he only *looks* like a neanderthal because he kept saying "awwwww" all through it. He thought it was beautiful.

Then again I didn't send it to him at work. People are in a different headspace at work than at home.

My dh watched and he thought it was nice, but his reaction to the picture of the dd cutting the cord was "oh man, leave the kid alone!" Funny how different people view the same picture. Also showed it to my neighbor and her 9 y.o. dd wanted to see it - she wouldn't let her. Why? B/c she tells me even her older kids still think that they have to cut the baby out and she doesn't want them thinking otherwise . Yeah, right. That's what she thinks. I'm quite sure other kids have set her 11 and 13 y.o.'s straight on that one. :

Anyone know who sings the song at the end? I really want it and have charged dh with finding it for me, but I guess I'm going to have to do my own legwork on this one.

I had to force dh to sit down and watch it. He did really like it, but was rolling his eyes at the idea of a professional photograher. I just get teary eyed every time I watch it.

My dh actually called it great piece of advertising! For who? I asked. Who is making money off of that beautiful piece?

OOhh, gotta go!

Yup, he's dragging those knuckes with a great view of the caves just over his shoulder. . .:LOL
Ya'd think he'd get it after being present and loving and excited at the birth of our ds, but he's just determined to hide any sentimentality he's got. Poor fool. . .

Here's the link:

It's so beautiful. I just e-mailed dh the link. I think he'll respond favorably... he's a pretty sensitive guy, and he's a graphic designer (mostly web)/illustrator, so I think he'll be impressed on all accounts. The only bad thing that could happen is that he might think that now *he* has to do something that elaborate when our baby arrives.

I didn't even bother to show it to Gr8fldad. Depending on his mood he could have said, "Do I have to watch this?" or "I am so glad our births are like that."

I got DH to watch it with our DS (and then quietly removed myself from the room, so I wouldn't bawl again) I could hear them giggling, and DS said "Baby!!"... Dh doesn't understand *at all* why something like that would make me cry (I told him because it makes me think of DS birth, and because we're going to do that *again* a few months from now) He thought it was a nice slideshow, though (I think... I didn't grill him on it... but he didn't say anything negative...)

I just assumed my dh was a neanderthal also. I had sent the link to my sister-in-law who loved it. My dh read her reply e-mail and wanted to see the video. I watched it with him and cried again. I went to get a tissue and compose myself and heard him sniffling!!! I said "are you crying"...he was so cute, tried to play it all cool, no, not me

I loved it and so does my extremely sensitive hubby, but as to this..."My dh actually called it great piece of advertising! For who? I asked. Who is making money off of that beautiful piece?"

The dad owns the advertising/marketing website/company that the "ecard" is on. If any of us needed that kind of service, who do you think we'd hire?

So I think the dad is making some money off of it, or at least LOADS of free advertising for his own company.
