Just wondering if there are any other mamas out there. My daughter has been monitored since birth for a few different genetic disorders, but never diagnosed with anything, well until she was recently diagnosed with cancer.....that's another thread. BUT we have always been told that most likely even if my daughter has a genetic issue, it was a spontaneous mutation, and not something that was passed through my husband and i genes, BUT i cant help but be scared to death.

This was very unexpected and not planned at all, but we are taking it as something that was meant to be since we are always careful and have not gotten pregnant in the 5 years since my precious dd.

 Thanks mamas!!!

I'm sorry i'm just now seeing this thread.  My daughter has special needs, and while all of her genetic tests have come back normal, the doctors think that it is only because they haven't developed a test to *find* her abnormality yet.  Sigh.

This will be baby # 3 for me.  I had another one after my daughter and she is "typical," meaning no special needs.

I'm so sorry your daughter is fighting Cancer, and any other struggles she has to endure.  Hang in there mama.  ((((HUGS)))

I know you posted this a few months ago but I just joined so I'm just seeing it now. I have an 18mo daughter with a very rare genetic metabolic disorder. She almost died from it at 6 weeks old. She spent 8 days in the PICU at Sick Kids Hospital. I am now expecting #2 and the odds are he/she will also have the same disorder. My DD is now happy and healthy and thanks to amazing Dr's here in Toronto, Canada she is very well looked after. She will have this for the rest of her life but my husband and his father both have it also and they both live happy, healthy (medicated) lives.

Anyway I totally understand your fears. Here is a big hug, not worth much but all I can give joy.gif

Thank you both so very much.

It's nice to know I'm not alone.
