I'm also not able to eat meat and I love my red meats since i got pregnant i haven't been able to stomach it nor the smell of it.. I can only eat chicken and it sucks plus I'm not able to eat anything that is oily not that i mind because i think thats a great thing.. I'm 9 wks and 2 days and boy am i over the sickness that going with the pregnancy and this is my first.
Anyone know the reason for this?
I had trouble with meat until over 20 weeks. I couldn't eat any meat other than tuna fish for the entire first trimester. Many women report the same kind of aversion.
One theory is that meat is more easily contaminated with parasites, bacteria, and other things that can harm the growing baby, so our bodies just avoid it during the most vulnerable phase of pregnancy. There isn't a lot of solid scientific evidence for aversions during pregnancy, however, so most explanations are just hypothetical.

I've been pretty turned off by meat as well...I was last time as well. Now my hemoglobin is low, but I still can't bring myself to eat much meat, especially chicken, which is normally a staple in our house. I can't stand the texture.
I have no idea what the reason might be...I just try and eat a healthy as i can, but some days it's a struggle!
