So I woke up this morning at 2am with painful menstrual type cramping.  They were coming in waves, lasted exactly a minute apart, but varied a bit in how far apart they were.  4 in a row would be 5 min apart, and then the next 3 would be 8 min apart, etc. about 10-12 in an hr.  there is a slight tightening of the belly when they come, but it's not like someone watching could see a difference in my tummy.

After a bunch of snacks, water, tub, etc I finally got one hr of sleep, where I dreamed I was in labor.  It's now 1:30 in the afternoon and nothing has changed.  I have tons of pelvic pressure, just want to sit on the toilet, and I can't seem to get enough food in me.

I got checked by the midwife and she said I'm 3 cm dilated and thinks this is early early labor, and we'll have a baby tonight or tomorrow.  I'm having a hard time believing this is possible, because for one, I was ten days late with number one, and this one would be 10 days early!  Also, I'm perfectly capable of having a conversation, I just went grocery shopping, etc so isn't it possible that this is just BH???  I don't want to get my hopes up, which is pretty hard since the midwife told me to get childcare set up for the next 48 hrs, pack my bag, etc. but I still can't believe this is it.  Anyone else BTDT with a long drawn out early labor like this, and then suddenly turned the corner?  Or do you think I'll still be preggers next week?

Oh yeah, and no mucus plug yet or water breaking.  Slight leaking, but thinking that urine form pressure.

You may be in the natural alignment plateau.

Or you just may be in early labor but not active labor.  Hopefully some more knowledgeable moms can step in here, but it doesn't sound like anything to worry about (though it does sound annoying).

There have been pregnancies in which I've felt like that for weeks.
