I was planning a 2nd HB when our anatomy scan revealed an abdominal wall defect last week.  Anyone who has been through this, I would love to talk to.  Thanks, Mamas.

Have you looked here? I would do a lot of research and talk to some pediatric specialists familiar with gatroschisis before setting y sights on a HB. Not knowing more specifics that's just my humble opinion. Very best wishes!

Oh yeah, homebirth is out, completely.  They baby will need immediate surgery at birth.  Definitely wouldn't want to risk infection during transport or shock.

I was planning an unassisted homebirth.... now i'm going to the hospital and I'm so afraid I won't be able to breastfeed since she'll be taken away so quickly and for a long time.... and gastro-baby breastfeeders?

I know that the baby will need TPN in the beginning because their intestines are so damaged that they cannot process the nutrition in BM. But once the gut it back in and motility is better, they absolutely want Breastmilk!! At least at my hospital. Formula with gastro babies has been associated with necrosis.

I hope your little one will have a gloriously fast recovery <3 Hugging you big. It can feel scary. Do you mind if I ask where you are located? I have done a lot of research into the potential causes of this defect and I am very interested in the clusters of cases being seen in certain areas. No pressure if you dont feel comfortable though
