Yesterday I had a pregnancy blood test done and it was 149.  I am finally pregnant after 2 years of TTC with male infertility issues. I would love to connect with other first time moms as this is a whole new world for me and my DDC has so many people on baby 3, 4, 5, ...., 9.  I am the oldest of 7 but I think I need to connect with ladies going through this for the first time.

Hey Lilac, good to see you here on the other side. I never really looked for the Bajingo graduates thread. Seems like it's been pretty slow, I find it hard to believe there would be no due dates between June and December. You can put me in September if you like, 9/13 officially.

I am hoping that more of the pregnant ladies in their 30s will join in. The TTC thread has been slower the last 6 months or so and there are only 6 ladies that have gotten BFP over there.  Some people aren't quite as involved in forums. I find them useful and supportive since in real life I only know of three other pregnant woman and they are former students of mine so it is a bit awkward to discuss things with them.

I am looking forward to next Tuesday, April 23, when I go to my doctor for an ultrasound to make sure my babies/baby are growing in the right place and also find out if it is one or two babies growing in there.  I want my doctor to let me know I can do more than just walk for exercise.  There is a prenatal swimming class that I would like to get involved with. It meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 7:45 pm and it is FREE at our YMCA.  Where I live, our county has the highest infant mortality in Michigan so I think that is one of the reasons that they want pregnant women to get together and get support in addition to exercise and they offer it for free.

Glad to see you both here, Lilac and Dapikode! I think people get into their DDC and at least for me, I found pregnancy to be less OCD-inducing than TTC.

You can put me down as May 9. I'd love to hear what you are all up to and keep you posted on any new developments on this end!

for now, I'll just say that you will reach the point at which you don't think you can get any bigger ... and surpass it ... several times. I had that the first time at about 5 months, and now at 8 months+ I feel I must have hit terminal mass. Looking at pictures of DDCs several months ahead helped prime me for just how things can go.

I'm in this boat. 34 YOA and 9w6d along with my first and only. Got my BFP the first month trying, so I had no time to join the TTC thread 😜

Thrilled and excited, but nauseous.

M.Q. Welcome!  So what is your due date based on your number of weeks? The first trimester so far for me has been filled with an overactive sense of smell. Chocolate tastes like coffee and I don't like coffee but love chocolate :(

EDD is November 13th.😊

I'm getting excited as I near the end of the first trimester; hoping like crazy that the nausea goes away. And my birthday is the day after my EDD, so I am looking forward to a birthday baby 😃

M.Q. that is cool - Nov. 13 was my dad's birthday. I was thinking it would be cool if your baby was born on 11/12/13.  Only happens once every 100 years. I hope your nausea goes away soon.

AFM, just trying to keep my shoulder, knee, and ankle from hurting.  As long as I don't stand for too long, I am okay.

Been feeling a little crampy in an odd way yesterday and today.  No bleeding but just an odd feeling. The pain goes away if I lay down, but if I sit up or stand for too long it feels uncomfortable.  Looking forward to my ob ultrasound on Tuesday to find out if I am having one or 2 babies and to make sure everything is growing as it ought to be.

lilac, it could be round ligament pain or just miscellaneous pregnancy "everything down there is shifting" cramping. I'll look forward to your Tuesday update!

kimble, so looking forward to seeing a birth announcement from you in the coming month!

M.Q., hope your nausea resolves soon. Mine went away around 13 weeks. Also feel free to tell us a bit more about yourself.

I'd love to see a bit more 30's related discussion in this thread so I'll go first and give some background about our situation:

When my best friend got pregnant at 27 I thought we would soon follow, we had been dating for 4 years at that point and I figured marriage and kids were in our near future. We were at that stage: getting settled into jobs, buying a house, he was in the second half of his 30's so I thought he was getting closer to being ready... I had always had this self-imposed deadline of having #1 before I was 30 and at some point we had a huge fight over "when are we going to have kids". At the time he said we could start trying on my 30th birthday but I knew it was a lie and something he felt he'd been forced to say so I didn't bring it up. We got married a year and a half later and I held my tongue. Then when our first anniversary approached I told him "it's time" and he (reluctantly) agreed. I will say that for about five years or so I was unhappy because having kids was such an important factor for me in our relationship. At the same time I had no intention of leaving because a lot of other aspects of our relationship worked really well, it was just the waiting that was killing me, but it was my choice, my sacrifice, to give him time.

I'm curious to hear from you ladies how it got to be that you're having #1 in your 30's. Was the economic crisis a big factor for you? Did 30 just sneak up on you? Had you always planned to wait?

dakipode, after looking up round ligament pain on webmd, I think that may very well be what it is.  I would have sharp stabbing pain and then it would go away.  Sort of a dull ache right now, but I finally decided to just take some tylenol an hour ago and I am feeling better.  Not much of a pill popper and I prefer natural remedies to pharmaceutical ones but right now I want to feel good.

On the side of 30's discussion, I remember the Christmas I was 29 years old.  I had a boyfriend at the time who I thought was "perfect". Later learned that he was not financially responsible and the job he told me he had wasn't one he actually worked at anymore.  Fast forward 6 months, I turned 30 and met a man through eharmony that I had actually known and liked when I was in college 10 years previous but had lost contact with.  We had a great summer romance, talked about getting married during Labor Day weekend, then the next weekend he came to visit "because he had to tell something to me face to face" (he lived 11 hours away in another state).  He broke up with me and I was devastated.  It took me over a year to get over that relationship. I dated another about a year after that but he didn't really want to get married. Then one of my girl friend's started talking to this man from Canada.  He came down to visit her, but she came to the conclusion that he was not the man for her, but would be perfect for me.  I ignored her for several months but she kept harassing me about it. Finally in April 2009, I emailed him and expected not to hear a thing back from him. But he wrote back, we started emailing often back and forth and at the end of May 2009 we started talking on the phone and he began planning a July visit. We hit it off and Labor Day weekend 2009, he asked me to marry him.  Because he was Canadian we had to jump through immigration to make it possible for him to move to the U.S. Finally May 2010, he was approved to come on a fiance' visa, he moved end of June 2010 and we were married July 11, 2010. Since we were still going through immigration and he hadn't been approved to work in the U.S. yet, I continued taking birth control pills which I had taken for years to control painful periods. DH got his green card in Oct. 2010 and got a full time job in Jan. 2011.  I got really sick with the flu in March 2011 and was on some antibiotics so we were extra careful that month "not to get pregnant yet". If I only knew what the next 2 years would bring. We decided that in April 2011 I would stop taking the pill and we would get started TTC, figuring it would take a couple months for my periods to come back to normal after being on the pill so long.  I started charting my bbt and paying attention to my CM but by Oct 2011 we still weren't expecting. My bbt was always very low and I had other symptoms of hypothyroidism. I went to my doctor and was finally diagnosed with hypothyroid in Oct. 2011.  I thought that was going to fix our problems.  Nope.  In March 2012, my DH had a sperm assay and it came back as zero sperm.  Both DH and I were devastated. After  talking to the urologist in April 2012, he basically told use we could never have biological children, but he wanted my DH to have a repeat SA done in May 2012.  I had convinced my DH to take vitamin supplements right after his initial zero sperm diagnosis and in May 2012, 7 weeks later, the lab technician found 25 sperm in my husband's ejaculate.  Not enough to get pregnant without assistance, but enough that we could freeze several samples and aim toward an IVF cycle. The summer of 2012 was spent going back and forth to the fertility clinic freezing samples until the doctors decided we had enough frozen to make a go of an IVF cycle.  Then we needed to save up the money to actually be able to do the cycle. My insurance covered 80% (which is amazing given some other people's insurance coverage for infertility).  We got a surprise financial gift that allowed us to get started with our IVF planning in Jan. 2013, then in March 2013 I started my IVF cycle.  Egg retrieval was the most painful medical procedure I have ever been through (and frankly I have never been through any other medical procedures in my life to that point). The lab was able to inject my DH's sperm into 14 of the 18 eggs that were viable and 13 of those eggs made it to day 2. Embryo transfer two days later was painless in comparison. When I got my BFP on the two year anniversary of us beginning our TTC journey, it gave me lots of tears.  We had finally done it. With the help of medical science and a miracle of God, our embryos or embryo, we don't know yet, is growing inside me.  Keeping the faith is truly believing in things that are unseen. I am sort of hoping for twins because I will be 37 this year and I don't want to be a really old mom.  But God has given me a chance to be a mother and for this I am thankful.  If I am not having twins, we will definitely transfer a couple more of the embryos that are currently frozen to make our family bigger. Medical science is amazing.

Just popping in here since this is the active Bajingo thread... Hi everyone!  wave.gif  Life is busy here with baby Cormac (almost 4 months old now...!!!!) but I love checking in and seeing those BFPs!!

Lilac, I loved reading your recap of your TTC journey.  You have an incredible story and it just goes to show that keeping the faith brings great rewards.  There were several moments along our 15-month TTC journey that made me doubt that I would ever be a mom.  But thanks to this community, I was always aware of inspiring stories like yours that kept me going.  I can't wait to hear if you're having one or two!!

Kimble, Daki, MQ--it's great to see you all on the other side!  Pregnancy was a wonderful time for me... I absolutely loved it.  Wishing you all the very best in the coming months!

Me (32) and DH (30) welcomed our precious baby boy 1/2013... life is good.

Congratulations to dakipode and Lilac (and others I know less!)- on your pregnancies!

Pitch- The is a Bajingo thread on "Life with Babe" too!

My LO is 9 months old now.  Almost walking- because being around her big sis is making her want to grow up so fast.  She is an absolute dream of a babe- happy, healthy, easy going.

The question now- more?  I am 37.  I might be done?

Pitch, your avatar is adorable.  Love the picture of you with your little boy.  I am glad that pregnancy and now living with a little one has been a great experience. I am glad that my experience can be an encouragement to others.  I remember when you finally got your BFP. I found that BFP brought me hope that someday soon I would get mine too.

CA country girl, I am sure your littlest girl wants to emulate everything your older daughter does.  There are still a few years until 40, maybe another baby in your future, even thought it took quite awhile for you to conceive your second.

AFM, tiredness seems to really be ever present.  I know it is just a regular pregnancy symptom, but I wonder if it is worse for us older ladies since we have "so much going on" around us. Last week I was able to chill a bit more at work because 99 percent of the high school was on a band trip out to Boston. Today they are all back. I am sure some will be extremely tired and others "sick" and won't come to school at all. Four more weeks of teaching, then a week of final exams and graduation preparation and then my time at the school I have given 12 years of my life to will end.  I think I will be having some emotional times as the different milestones of the end of the year come. I am hoping tomorrow's ultrasound is good news and that the job interview I have scheduled is a good one as well.

As to why we're having our one-and-only in my mid 30's:

I am not the mommy type. Growing up, my dolls were always my 'siblings' or my 'students', never my babies. I just never had any desire to be a parent, and with a history  of abuse I REALLY had no interest in OB/GYN care and the things that people with lots of letters after their names think they have rights to do to women because they're pregnant.

I was 27 when I married the perfect guy. He wanted kids, but understood that I did not and was willing to deal with that reality. Fast forward two years and a lapse in fertility awareness (read: blasé attitude) led to a surprise pregnancy that ended in an early miscarriage. That changed everything for me. I had never wanted A baby, but I realized that I wanted THAT baby, and afterward I felt very strongly that my heart had changed and I wanted to be a  mother. This feeling was reinforced when I discovered the loss group on MDC and learned about a more natural approach to pregnancy and birth than the standard obstetric model of care. I was 30. DH, it turned out, was not on board.

DH is a planner, a worrier, and very obsessed with finances. He was against having a baby until we were completely out of debt (save the mortgage). So we went to diligently charting to avoid, and we bought a lady comp. He obsessed over money things and I obsessed over baby things. Meanwhile, nearly all of our married friends started having babies. I made sure to expose him to as many adorable newborns and precious infants as possible, which has been pretty easy with nearly a dozen of them around.

I had made it clear from the beginning that I wanted an out-of-hospital birth and a natural care plan and that meant I would need to be considered low-risk when pregnant; a situation that put a very firm deadline on TTC. If I didn't get pregnant by the time I was 34, it wasn't going to happen. I turned 34 last November and he seemed no closer to ready, so I was beginning to process the thought that it just wasn't going to happen. But last January, he brought it up (too late in the cycle to start right away) and we decided to try in February- our one chance left to have an entire pregnancy before I turned "geriatric".

Baby is due one day before I turn 35. :) Timing is everything.

M.Q. I am so glad that you found the MDC community to be one that was supportive of the direction you want to go with birth and mothering.  I know I felt the same way mainly because my mother was an individual who decided that birthing in a hospital wasn't a necessary part of her mothering experience once she had 2 of us. I am the oldest of 7 kids and the last 5 were born at home unassisted except by my father.  I know that the "obstetrical model" doesn't have to be the experience I have even thought now I am going to miss out on my home birth because of having twins.

AFM, Yeah, having #1 and #2 all at once.  It is just mind blowing. This morning I was coughing up some phlegm (allergies are going to be a terrible thing this year sans my favorite anti-histamine!). The coughing brought on dry heave vomiting.  My tummy was empty but it was even emptier by the time it was over. Yuck.

When DH and I talked to DH's parents, they were super excited. I think they have always wanted to be grandparents but their olde daughter wasn't interested in having kids. My SIL doesn't seem to like me for some reason.  I was kind of sad that DH ended up calling her without me (even though we had tried calling her together). I wanted to hear her reaction, but then again, it is probably good that I didn't because she probably isn't that excited anyway.

My DH is so excited.  Last night he went through his list of contacts on his cell phone calling everyone to tell them we are having twins! One person I wished he hadn't called was a former coworker of mine who isn't a very good secret keeper. Not that this pregnancy will be kept a secret for long but there are some people I just don't want to know yet because they are the one's I hold responsible for me not having a job where I have been employed for 12 years. Anyway what is done, is done.  Hopefully he won't tell people before I get to tell people.

Thanks andaluza, it still seems surreal.  But I know my body is growing.  The cramps and round ligament pain are very real. As is the waking up at midnight ravenously hungry and having to pee all of the time. Miracles happen and now I want to enjoy this miracle pregnancy.

Wow, last night I slept from 7:30 p.m. to 4:45 a.m. (I usually get up with DH at 5 a.m.)  I feel so much better from getting the extra sleep. Today is 7 weeks for me.  How is everyone else doing now that it is May?

Lilac, glad to hear you're able to get some sleep. Major fatigue was definitely one of my symptoms. Similarly I would go to bed at 8:30pm and sleep till 7am or so. Sleep while you can, it's likely that soon enough you'll be waking up at least 3 times a night to go to the bathroom!

Doing ok here. The kicks are still infrequent enough that they have me a little worried in between feeling them, but then I'll get a noticeable one and I'm reassured. I find myself just waiting for the next appt since I feel there is nothing else to do, the nesting hasn't set in yet so I'm happy to just sit back and relax. In the last 3 weeks my belly has really grown! People couldn't tell before that and I only told everyone 3 weeks ago and it's like my belly went "ooof, now I don't have to hide anymore, let it all hang out!"

How often do you have appts, lilac, and are you showing yet? I imagine with twins you'll be able to see it sooner.

I have an appointment next Tuesday and then if all is well, I will get transferred to a regular OB. Today I was feeling like I had a belly. Bloated is what it mainly feels like though.

Hey everyone. Thought I would jump in here since I already know a lot of youlove.gif  I was previously in the bajingo ttc thread and recently got my bfp. After 2 years ttc, 1 MC, multiple chemical pregnancies and 2 iui's it feels wonderful to announce I'm 4 weeks along and due mid January.  I know its still early but I can't help but let myself feel the joy! I haven't been able to sleep, lol. I've gotta go right now but will return to write my ttc journey....

Welcome to the other side Jenny!  I can't wait to hear how the next few weeks go for you!

AFM, I graduated from the reproductive endocrinologist yesterday.  I saw my babies little legs and arms and their heads.  Wow.  Two babies growing big and strong.  I am so amazed I get to be their mom.  It was so emotional when I heard their heart beats on the ultrasound machines.  Those little ones are alive! I can't believe I will be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow!

Glad to hear you are all doing well!

Welcome Jenny - It takes a while for pregnancy to feel "real" but after your TTC journey I am so happy to see you on this side!

Lilac wow that must have been incredible to see the two babes in there. I remember the kid just being a blob at my 8 week U/S so it's nice that you got to see a bit more.
