Today my midwife phoned and asked me a few questions then said they will probably call me tomorrow with a date for my scan to get it done quickly as I am already 15 weeks and they usually do it at 12, she also mentioned the down syndrome test. I'm a bit worried about scheduling the scan during the right time because I don't have a lot of free time to make that appointment. I need it to between school pick up times too, I hope I get some choice with that or I can phone up and rearrange if it isn't a good time. She sounded really nice though and it was good to have a real life conversation with someone about my pregnancy!

Lilac I hope you get to have the natural birth you want, whatever is safest for all three of you! Glad your mom is there now.

MyKitty thanks for sharing your experience and encouragement. It must be very annoying when people assume things because of your size when they don't know your physical condition. Goodluck with your baby too!

snowydays, glad that your first midwife interaction was a good one. Always nice to have a health care professional that is pleasant to work with and hopefully knows there stuff.

Hi Reading Mama! I've had 3 C-sections and have alot of scar tissue. My ultrasounds are very difficult to see. I was told at 10 weeks they couldn't see the baby, only a sac. Gladly baby was there at 12 weeks with a perfect little heartbeat. I had an anotomical ultrasound at 16 weeks and they couldnt see clearly all of the organs or the spinal cord so I have another scheduled for next week which I will be 20 weeks. I've had alot of cramping this pregnancy. Having scar tissue definetely makes it more difficult to see in the ultrasounds.

Since this is my 4th child and i'm 42 years old, I believed that I was done with this whole baby business. I was actually looking forward to grandchildren since my oldest is 23. Here I am pregnant again. It's been difficult for me to accept. Feeling the baby move has made it better but still not in baby mode yet (sigh).

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and this will be my 4th C-Section. I'm concerned about this because when my OB asked what number csection this would be for me and I answered 4th he automatically said "Wow". I said "Is that dangerous?" and he replied non-chalantly "No". As you can imagine this has left me a little worried. If your OB says WOW.....that can't be a good sign.

Has anyone has more than 3 csections on here????

Hi herreramoon!  Thank you for sharing your experience.  I'd heard adhesions can cause some cramping as things stretch out.  This will only be my 2nd c-section, but my cousin has had 4.  She's a couple years older than I am.  (I'm 39.)  She said her last 2 c-sections were actually easier to recover from than her first two were!  There used to be a 3 c-section "rule" and some doctors are still (inwardly, at least)  inclined that way, but it's not a rule any more.  The scar tissue makes things a little harder for the doctor, says my doctor, but it shouldn't affect the outcome or recovery.  I still have numbness at the incision site!  Do you?

Actually Readingmama, my last C-section recovery was a breeze. I was up and walking that same day with minimal pain. My daughter was in the NICU and I was all day long back and forth to the NICU. When I was discharged I even drove my self in the morning and back home in the evening to be with daughter.

Hopefully this recovery will be the same.

Lilac thinking of you! I'm sure those babies will be strong enough to leave the hospital and come home when you do yay!

I will be 16 weeks this weekend and have an appointment for my first scan next Tuesday! All excited and nervous at the same time, I really am hoping they might be able to tell the gender at 16 weeks!

I still haven't told anyone I'm pregnant, but my tummy is definately growing... I have had to buy a pair of maternity leggings to cover it and help support/hold it in a little. I'm more nervous about people realizing I have a baby bump, but as Christmas is less than 2 weeks away I'm hoping I can still keep it a secret until after then. A couple of my 10yr old son's friends at school have had baby siblings lately and he asked me this morning if I can have a baby brother or sister for him next year, my heart melted...but I couldn't say yes just yet as it's too big of a secret to expect him to keep. I just smiled and said yes, maybe, we'll have to wait and see. I know at least his reaction to the news will be a positive one :joy Trying to work out exactly how to tell my family for after Christmas, what words to use and how to get everyone together in the same room of their house at the same time to listen to me. I'll also need my son to be in a different room, maybe upstairs, so he doesn't have to hear any negative responses. I have had months to get used to the idea of a baby coming, I know my family will need time to process it and come around to it not being such a bad thing. I will have an ultrasound photo by then too, so I can show them the baby's picture when I tell them the news, and hopefully whether it's a girl or boy, maybe that will help.....

Snowydays, that is nice that your son will be excited when you tell him. Here is to hoping that you can keep it a secret and get the right environment with everyone present to break the news to family.

AFM, last night about 8 pm I started getting really intense cervical pain and much more regular contractions. They kept me up every few hours last night. I dont' have a doctor's appointment until 3:20 p.m. so I am hoping things will pick up between now and then because I have had some pretty intense contractions and this "baby is going to come out right now" feeling.

Snowy days. I am in the same shoe as you....except I'm not as far as you. What I was thinking to do. Is tell my family but a letter and photo of the us. So they can read it and get upset if they want to without stressing me. Then talk it out with my family. Figure my letter will have all my feelings and thoughts before I get shut down. Maybe you can do something like that. We all want our family to be as happy as we are but that doesn't happen all the time. As long as you are happy that is all that matters

Still waiting. The doctor on Friday was like "you are 39 weeks pregnant with twins and gestational diabetes. Why haven't you had those babies?" Like I can make them come out all by myself! I really want labor to start spontaneously but on Monday I will be having an ultrasound and depending on the outcome, I think the doctors are going to push for an induction date. I am hoping that the babies decide to come before Monday morning. I don't want to be pushed into having to be induced. But I want my babies to be safe too.

Hi everybody. I am nine weeks pregnant with my second. My first is now 11. I am comfortable with my size but after reading all the info about plus size moms I was worried that my doc would try to stick me in a box based on the current standards of what is considered normal. Thankfully my OB is a God send and reminded me that the lable of high risk, is just that a lable. My care will be monitored more closely due to my high blood pressure but she assured me that being 250 at 5"7 would not be an automatic issue unless my body showed signs of stress. So so far I have been cleared to gain the normal range of 25 if that's what my body needs. I like that my doctor is treating my experience uniquely and not assuming I'll have more problems than others just based on what I look like. It's a great comfort. Good luck to you all.

Welcome, christian! Hope you find some support here.

Well, an induction is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 when I will be 40w1d. I was comfortable with that because I believe that I will go into labor before that. The Biophysical profile showed that the blood flow from the placentas was good, plenty of amniotic fluid, and the babies looked great. We did a non-stress test too and the heart beats were good - but I did not have any contractions during the 30 minutes I was on the monitor. On the way into the doctor I could hardly walk the baby's head was sitting in such a way to cause me serious pain and I was having strong contractions. Ultrasound estimate of the baby's weights was 6 pounds 14 oz for one and 6 pounds 12 oz for the other. The ultrasound tech said the babies are likely 7 pounds or so because the way the babies are laying it is hard to get a good picture of their bellies and heads which is a major part of the ultrasound estimate of their weights.

I need to call the chiropractor and see if I can get in and maybe loosen up the spot where the first head down baby is so he turns a little more, since he is facing to the right in my pelvis. I have done some stair climbing and ate some pineapple as well today.

Yes, I've had 5 c/s so far and this will be # 6. I've only heard this pregnancy of any concerns about scar tissue. I've had 3 non baby abdominal surgeries but two were from my childhood/ teen years. One was a hernia repair after cs #4 when the nurse ruptured my incision and they refused to take any responsibility for it. The repair was done immediately after cs #5 and I never had any issues with it healing or being painful.

AFM, I went to the chiropractor today. It felt great to have my pelvis adjusted, then my back and neck adjusted. Then she flipped me over and massaged my belly for awhile and released the tension in the muscles surrounding my belly. I am hoping that this will put William, my presenting baby, into a good position to put pressure on my cervix and get labor going. Went shopping for an hour with my mom because I figured that walking will help jiggle the baby around. Now I am home sitting on my exercise ball.

Still rooting for you & those babies, Lilac! Really hoping things progress before tomorrow but either way wishing you all that you need for a really good delivery. Hoping everyone else is doing/feeling good too. Had a few friends over for baking Christmas cookies with my 4 year old yesterday. Today I am totally bushed but happy we were able to do it. :)

Sounds like a lot of fun was had yesterday.

I have been having contractions 2 pm Wednesday. They are getting more intense and closer together but still 8-10 minutes apart. DH stayed home from work because the contractions were really intense then although they have slowed down a bit since I took a shower.

William Ernest arrived at 4:13 pm Sat. Dec 21 at 7 pounds 10 oz. Edward Ronald arrived in breech presentation at 4:15 pm Dec 21 at 6 pounds 2 oz. I did pitocin induction from 7:30 am Friday Dec 20 because both boys were head down then until 2:30 pm Sat Dec 21 where even though water was broken for first baby, I never prrogressed past 5 cm. Had spinal and c section.

Stayed in hospital until Dec 25 because of low blood sugar issues with Edward. So happy to be tandem nursing on demand at home now!

Went for baoy dr follow up. She was impressed that we arrived on time and appeared "well rested".
Poor Dh is really frazzled. Although we did better today sleeping when the babies sleep, Dh keeps wanting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. At least tonight William seemed to calm down and sleep instead of his 3 - 6 hours "let's scream" sessions he has had at night . I love "my brest friend" twin pillow. I can feed my babies at the same time "hands free" .
