I developed a small (1/2" or so) umbi hernia during my 2nd pregnancy. Looking back in pictures, it looks like I actually developed it quite early- about 15-17 weeks. My belly button was an "outie" and very very tender. Post partum, it remained kinda sticking out a little, and when I pushed it in, it did the characteristic squish eeek! I am an RN so I have felt many hernias and am almost certain that is what I have.
Now we are ttc #3 and I have to say I am soooo nervous about the hernia. Its sensitive when touched now, and I cannot imagine it during pregnancy actually protruding as an "outie" again. Ya know when people look at your belly button in pregnancy and say, "Oh, you've popped!" haha that's the feeling. Ick.
I am also worried about it becoming strangulated during pregnancy. Should I plan to wear an abdominal binder throughout pregnancy? Any chance this will not become worse during pregnancy?? I am very nervous and anxious for this.
Following... I was diagnosed with a small one a few months ago, at around 9 months postpartum, but I think it has been there awhile. It doesn't pop out right now, but we will likely have more babies, so I should probably learn a bit more.
