I am 6 weeks pregnant.  Since having sex 5 days ago, my inner labia have been very ouchy--toilet paper feels like sandpaper!!  Although I began feeling a little bit dry midway through sex, I didn't think it was any big deal; now I wish I had insisted on some extra lubrication.  I'm surprised it's taking so long to recover.  Is this because of pregnancy?  Is there something I can do to soothe it?  I've been putting on a little coconut oil because it makes the burning stop so that I can tolerate ordinary friction with my clothes.  Now it only bothers me when I use the bathroom or wash; haven't tried further sexual activity.

Any help or reassurance would be much appreciated!

Totally normal for hormonal surges due to pregnancy to dry you out. I would try a little vaseline, aquaphor, or runner's anti-chafe (such as body glide) to help the healing along. If the burning is accompanied by inflammation, you can also use a little hydrocortisone around the labia for relief.

My wife (30) and I (32) have been legally married since 2006. We are proud queer mamas to baby W, born 10/10/2013.

I'd recommend coconut oil to soothe you, and it also makes good lube so you might try using that next time ;) Store bought lube makes me burn...

Thanks!  I am beginning to feel better and will be more careful going forward.  I don't remember having this problem in previous pregnancies....
