I was wondering if anyone had an IUD before getting pregnant and how long after removal did it take to conceive?

What type of IUD did you have? I think that changes things quite a bit. I have heard with the non-hormonal one you can get pregnant right away. I think with the hormonal one things can take a bit longer to get back to normal.

I had a copper IUD that I had removed on cycle day #3. Got pregnant later that same cycle.

I did a little reading and apparently the copper IUD is just like that. Your fertility isn't really affected. Some folks will of course take longer than IMMEDIATELY to get pregnant . . . but some folks just do, IUD or no IUD.

I think the hormonal IUD is different, though.

I just got my copper IUD removed and my doc said I was clear to try that month.  As the PP said, the hormonal one is different, I think.

The copper one doesn't really affect your fertility. You can get pregnant as soon as enough of the copper is flushed out for the sperm to survive, which probably won't take long at all.
I would probably wait one cycle after getting the hormonal IUD out because it thins the uterine lining.

I got my copper IUD out about a year ago, and I conceived this April past (which was my first month trying, using barrier/FAM in the interim). I believe I was ovulating almost right away after having it removed, though.
