And it's a boy, due on December 24th. My husband and I are so excited. Trying to wrap up a few things including getting a car seat installed professionally in the South End area. We are looking forward to meeting some new friends too!

Congratulations!  My little boy was born on December 24th almost 9 years ago.  I am a Christian, so it was a very very special Advent for me, and then to have him actually arrive on Christmas Eve (4 days before due date) was just over the top!  I sang him lots of Christmas carols. :love

Christmas is a somewhat awkward time for a birthday, and when I was very pregnant I heard many opinions on the subject from people who had a near-Christmas birthday in the family.  We wound up deciding that our son's annual party for friends would be at his half-birthday in June.  He gets a cake both then and on his real birthday.  He gets to choose a family activity for Christmas Eve day and the menu for dinner.  We are celebrating his birthday up until 10pm when we go to church, and then it's Christmas!  Gifts are unwrapped on Christmas, and then he gets gifts for his half-birthday.  The exception is any gifts (for example, from my uncle with an early-December birthday who feels strongly about it) specifically designated by the giver as birthday gifts.
