I am a week late for my period and I took a pregnancy test today that said negative. I am wondering, how late did you have to test to get your positives? I know with my last two children it was after a week late, but I am wondering if anyone else has been in this boat.
I am literally having all of the symptoms, and my period is never late, so I feel like I just tested too early. Also my pregnancy test expired (using one from the last time I had my kiddos... years ago). I plan on buying a couple new tests and retesting tomorrow morning if still no period.
If I am pregnant this would come as a total surprise, since my partner and I are always super careful. While I am not prepared financially for this, I would still be excited to know I am growing another child in this womb. I just love pregnancy and babies, immensely.
Are you charting?
Obviously, different tests have different sensitivities. I tested negative for my first pregnancy until I was almost a week late. This pregnancy, a digital test was a negative on the day I expected my cycle, but my temperature stayed elevated well above my cover line.
You could always wait a few days and retest, test with a different brand of test, or have a blood test done.

I was six weeks pregnant (so... four weeks post-fertilization? Is that how the pregnancy math works? Lol, four years go by and it all starts getting so fuzzy) before I got a positive result. I got seven negative results before that, one of which was a blood test. But I've never had a regular cycle, so I'm not sure that type of situation could apply to someone who does. Hope you don't have to wait too long for confirmation one way or the other!
Nope, I haven't been charting, this is actually a complete surprise, if I am indeed with child. But I do keep good records as to when my period comes, I track it in my phone, and I always get it on time. Always. I am only ever off by a day or two and that is rare. That's why this time I feel like I MUST be pregnant! I mean, I am on my eighth day of lateness and nothing so far.
From what I've researched, it might have been the expired test, as the chemical that detects HcG wears off over time, leaving the test very capable of false negatives. I have reinvested in new tests today, and I will re-try one tomorrow morning.
Even though this is completely unplanned, I find myself growing excited with the possibility. :)
