My partner loves it. I like it but not sold.

Obviously everyone has different taste in names, so if you decide you love it by all means go ahead! That being said... I definitely don't care for it. To me it sounds like a cheesy comic book hero. In my head I can only hear it in a booming man's voice: VITALIS.

Girl absolutely in love with boy and our DD (11/06), DS1 (08/11) and DS2 (brand new!)

Vitalis is a name of a hair tonic for men (to regrow hair) and a weight loss shake. It sounds very medical...

Yes, it sounds like a cross between Viagra and Cialis.

I also think of the hair tonic, but there are several Catholic saints named Vitalis, so it has a history.

I think sometimes even a name with history has to be conceded to current days. Dorcas, for instance.
Viola likes this.

I don't loooooove it, but I can tell from the unusual choice that our families might have similar taste in names. We're searching for a boy name too right now....I'd love to here some of your other ideas!  Right now I kind of like "Storm," and my daughter likes "Westly...." I would be liking "North"  but those Kanye people maybe kind of ruined it for this year at least, right.....?

Thanks for everyone's honesty. My partner was mad (playfully mad) I asked around because he says it's the coolest name ever. Luckily I'm not due until August so we have a long while to think about it.

Yes, we do like unusual names and I feel the perfect one is out there I just haven't heard it yet.

Anyone else have some different boy names to throw out on this thread?

I love North too. K and K really pulled off a good name.

I like the names Dashell and  Rock (my partner's boss' name though so its a big NO).

I'll think of some more and post again soon!

I like the version of this name Vitale better. Does this sound any less medical?

I always try to think of names that work in everyday situations. For example, another kid saying "mom, can Vitalis come over to play after school?" Or "Vitalis, you need to pick up your laundry!"

Or how you would feel cuddling him if he scraped his knees. Would there be a short form?

Names are so personal, it's hard to say. I kind of do like it on paper, but I'm thinking it may not be practical in childhood? Sigh.

I used to be so set on all my names for babies. Now here I am at 26 weeks and I have no clue!
