ive heard the best thing to do is to stay calm during labor and delivery but it would really help if i could hear about some of your experiences :)

I think the best thing to do is keep an open mind. You don't know how it will feel until you are in it. I planned on birthing naturally, but I decided to get an epidural after my water broke and the contractions got really strong and fast as I went into active labor and transition. The first 24 hours of labor were not very painful. I just breathed and moved into whatever positions was comfortable during contractions. I kept an open mind and planned for what I wanted to do and made decisions as things happened. I recommend taking a good childbirth class and practicing whatever methods you want to use for labor. I find knowledge is useful to help keep me calm. Some people do meditation or self-hypnosis. Massage can be great and you can practice with your partner so that you know what to do ahead of time.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
