I have been taking the recommended 10 ml twice daily for over a month, and still have low levels for my blood work.  I even eat meat and dark leafy greens daily.  I have been thinking about weight specific dosing, and feel that the 10 ml applying to all weights, and states of being has got to be inaccurate, but of course I want to avoid any overdoing it when it comes to iron.  I'm over 200 lbs and 6 months pregnant, does anyone know a different appropriate dosage or have any experience with knowing the signs of overdoing it for iron?

I doubled the dose on the label when I needed to raise my levels. Took the label dose whenever I remembered when I just needed to maintain my iron level. Pretty sure it would take much more than that (like over 6x) for iron poisoning especially from an herbal source.

I took 20ml twice daily for 2 weeks to increase my iron levels while pregnant, and I was 135lbs at 6moths.  Sometimes I took 20mls 3x a day.  10mls 2x a day was my daily normal dose, on top of a prenatal vitamin.

I think your blood volume is much more than mine was, so I can see why your dose is not changing things for you!  Can you talk with your OB or Midwife to get an idea of how much iron would be too much (give them the exact type of iron in Floradix, since there are different types)?  Or what symptoms to look for?

I get symptoms of anemia even when my numbers are in the "normal" range.  As soon as the numbers start dipping below the middle of "normal" ranges I get increased fatigue, shortness of breath, racing heartbeat with small amounts of exertion (like slowly climbing stairs), leg cramps at night.  I never went to toxic levels, so I can't tell you what those symptoms are.

good luck!!

I initially did ask my dr. and she said to just do as I was doing. Maybe it is liability sensitive issue to recommend outside dosage limits for supplements.  I think someone with more herbal or holistic nutrition experience would know more.  Thanks for all the input so far!

One time my dd slurped down my floradix before I could. It terrified me that she had gotten too much, so I called poisen control. They quickly and easily.calculated the dose by weight, and reassured me she was fine. So, they could maybe help you.

Personally, I take 30-40 mL a day. If I do that regularly for a week or two, I can drop down a little.bit without noticing a return of symptoms. I always start feeling better so I forget to take it for a few days, and then I crash and have to play catch up again.
