I told my parents we are considering Lydia by way of asking if they remembered the name of the real live tattooed lady we met in a state fair sideshow when I was about 7 years old--not only were tattoos more unusual in those days, but she really was tattooed over every part of her body except head, neck, hands, and presumably the parts covered by her bikini--and she was a very nice lady at least 60 years old who chatted with us.  We bought her signed photo, but my parents don't know where it is now.  I have a feeling her name was Ruth.  Anyway, doesn't seem to me that there's anything unsavory about being associated with a tattooed lady...and it turns out my parents love the name Lydia.

My DS1 can say Lydia, but for a long time, he had trouble with various consonants, and he still usually calls his sister something sounding like "Lay-yah." If I pause him and ask him, "What's her name?" Then he'll think about it and very deliberately say it again, this time adding in the D.

OP, congrats on your Lydia's birth. smile.gif
