Girl names Hazel and Adele

Hi everyone - I feel kind of silly posting about names when we often have much more serious issues to discuss but I know there are a few people out there who enjoy talking about names, and I need your opinions now, thanks!!

My two favourite girl names are Hazel and Adele. Hazel is a family name and also has personal meaning for DH and I so it has always been top of our list. However, now that we are finally having a girl (after two boys), I find that it is becoming very popular. I only know one other in my area but most baby name lists have it in the top 10 and rising. Would this be an issue for you or should it not matter?

As for Adele, I just love the sound of it. But I also worry about the popularity and reference (unintentional, though I think she's great) to the singer Adele. What do you think?

If it matters, my sons are Henry (unheard of - by me - for little boys 5 years ago, now crazy popular!) and Arlo. Middle name will likely be Marie for family reasons.

Thanks for your advice!

Happy mumma to my boys Henny Tom (Nov 30, 2008), Arlo Odie (Oct 5, 2010), and baby SISTER! due mid-Dec 2014.

I do like Hazel more, especially because it's a family name! Adele is pretty, but you might get a lot of people asking if you named her after the singer.

I love hazel but as you said it's gaining popularity. It was high on our list as DH's g-grandma was named hazel. However, we took our 2 yr old dd to a swim class while I was pregnant and there were 3 little girls out of 10 kids named hazel! We decided against it due to this surge in popularity! It ended up we had a boy so it wasn't an issue anyway. GL naming is such a hard thing!! Both names are beautiful in my opinion.

I really like both, but I think I would go with Adele due to the popularity of Hazel. Adele Marie is a beautiful name.

Beautiful baby girl born 8/13/2012. Little star baby lost at 10 weeks pregnant, 12/18/2013. Currently due 12/13/2014 with a rainbow.
