Despite taking the usual precautions, we're pregnant. Our kids will be 13, 12 and 9 by the time baby is born. I am so out of the loop. Feeling like a first time mum again. Anyone else in the same boat?
Yeah I have two now, my oldest is 7 and the new one just about 6 months. It feels like I'm a first time mom all over again. There's just so much you forget. Hopefully you'll get lucky and have an easy pregnancy this time around. I was under the impression that the second pregnancy and labor were supposed to be easier than my first. I guess since it was so long inbetween my body forgot. I gained more weight, my pih started earlier, and ended up at the hospital twice a week for monitoring. Sheesh. The labor was even worse. 11 hours with my first, 46 with my 2nd. Ugh. And right now dh is on the fence about a 3rd. I have a tubal scheduled... so we'll see if he says he wants another at the last minute. I don't care either way at this point with all I've been through. Just as long as he doesn't want 4... lol. With how my 2 pregnancies were I don't think my body would tolerate a 4th.
As for the baby well there's some things I have been able to pick right up and others that have been a challenge. Breastfeeding was a challenge to start again, but it was challenging at first with my firstborn too. Diaper changes are easier since this one thinks diaper changes are great. She kicks happily or grabs her feet as I'm changing her. The projectile vomiting is worse than with my first though. So I've had to develop all new coping techniques. This one also has been a bit colicky. We've discovered that's due to her reflux though. Poor baby with heartburn. She's really energetic though, even more than her sister was and laughs often. I had to buy all new stuff for this baby. And despite the fact that I had NOTHING to start me out, I couldn't convince a single friend to attend the baby shower my best friend had planned. So I basically got a few gifts from her and another friend and the rest from local programs and clothing banks as well as garage sales.
I'm still learning everything all over again since this is a new baby and it's been so long. Luckily big sister is such a help with her baby sister.
A surprise baby expected here too. We have a ten year old that joined our family via adoption. Never expected to be pregnant. Took a long time to get over the shock of it. But I'm almost to my third trimester now so we are all getting very excited.
