Hi, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and just started renting in town. I grew up in the country and I'm concerned about drinking the water while I'm pregnant. We started drinking bottled water to be sure. Does anyone know anything about the effects of drinking city water when you're pregnant, or the effects it could have on my two little girls? Thanks!
I drank city water though my 1st PG and most of this one. I have never read anything on this. I hope someone can help you. Bottled water isnt' always as "pure" as you might think.
I personally would NEVER drink city water. Even before I was pregnant I only drank bottled purified water. The taste alone is enough to make me drink only bottled- city water tastes like pure chemicals and chlorine to me. Chlorine is a very powerful chemical (just a tiny amount in the water is enough to kill fish or make many small animals sick) and since a baby is very tiny especially at first I wouldn't take ANY chances on ingesting even "negligible" amounts of toxic chemicals when I can easily avoid them by buying bottled water.
Also if you live in an older house or apt chances are there is some amount of lead in the pipes and that can get into the water.
If I am going to cut out my glass of wine every night I am at least going to cut down on toxic water too!
Thanks for the help. We had an RO system at our old house with a well because they found nitrates. Now I know too much, so I am drinking RO water from culligan. I'm glad to know I'm doing the right thing.
