I don't know what the deal is. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and type II diabetic (controlled pretty well with glyburide). Starting Friday, the outside half of my left foot went numb. I had walked quite a bit at the park the day before, and my ankle and calf muscle were VERY sore, but the soreness is gone now, and my foot is still numb. Not totally numb, but tingley, prickley numb. Should I be worried? My panic button is saying blood clot, but I don't think that is reasonable. Oh, it's freakin' me out, though.

Any ideas, anyone?

No pain anywhere else, and no sign of scatica. That's a thought, though. I did have a back injury from a few months ago that I may have irritated. It could even be from an old knee surgery and the swelling that I get when I overdo it sometimes. I've just never had this happen before, so it's got me paranoid....:

I hope youare feeling better this evening. I know that this is scary for you, and personally I would at least call my midwife/OB and let them know what is going on and make sure that there is no need for concern. Too, this will put you at ease so that you can continue to enjoy this wonderful time.

Please keep us updated! You are in my thoughts!!

I'd like to see you get a full diabetic run down for nerve issues, with blood sugar and blood pressure and eye checks and stuff as well as blood clot examination, but it might just be tarsal tunnel. Did you know many women get carpal tunnel during pregnancy? Tarsal tunnel is just the corresponding foot problem.

I am not any better today, and I'm going to call my OB and see what they have to say. I have a knot in my calf muscle after walking much, and that worries me more.

I wish I could find a doc in my area that would do a complete diabetic rundown, but I can't seem to find one.

My OB's nurse told me to drink more water and call back Wednesday if it's not any better. I guess 75oz of water a day isn't enough. (i fill 3-24oz bottles up every morning and I usually drink it all by that night)

That advice is worse than no advice at all. She might as well have said, Call on Wednesday if'n it's not better.

I called back today, and they have scheduled me for a venus doppler this afternoon. I'm anxious and nervous, but glad to be getting something done.

Wear a long shirt, they're gonna make you take your pants off and get ultrasound goo all over your legs. I'm glad you'll at least know something after all this.
