Over the weekend my urine smelled like bleach. I thought of two things: amnio leakage or semen. Well, it was just the smell. There was no discharge or leakage. After I told the midwife that she did not seem concerned. I haven't had intercouse for about a week. So it's not that either. I also drank well water all weekend. So it was not chlorinated. Maybe it was something I ate. I'm glad I got some piece of mind when I called the midwife. It does not smell anymore. I have an appt on Friday. She didn't think I needed to come in before then.

If it smells like bleach, it is more likely to be amniotic fluid... urine has ammonia smell, amniotic fluid either has no smell or is slightly bleach smelling, sweat should have a stronger odor (like sweat). Maybe not the greatest answer, but smelling the wetness may help you decide what it is.

When bleach reacts with ureum (a mixture of urine and sweat), hypochlorous acid and ureum react to form chloramines. These chloramines irritate mucous membranes and cause the so-called 'chlorine smell'.
Gross, I know :LOL Urine and sweat : Hey, I'm pregnant and it was very hot out yesterday!
