Ok, this thread is starting to scare me!!!! My first labor was 4 hours from water breaking to baby laying on my chest!! I think my first contrax started about 20-30 mins after my water broke. We have a 25 min drive to hospital and hubby works almost 2 hours away!

If second time statistics of 1/2 the time apply to me......that means having this baby in TWO hours!!!

I am rushing to that hospital at the FIRST sign of labor!!!!!

Seriously, this is all really making me think I better have a backup person to be with me and have some sort of amazing plan to take DD along with me and be picked up at the hospital........

I have 6 months to worry about it......

My first labor was exactly 7 hours, with 2.5 hours of pushing. I'm sooo encouraged to hear these stories! I didn't mind the 4.5 hours of labor - that was a breeze with my Hypnobabies - but pushing was not pleasent at all. My midwives have practically promised me that this baby will pop out after just a few pushes, and with no episiotomy this time.

First labor - 5 1/2 hours, first contraction to baby out, including less than 10 minutes of pushing. Baby was 7 lbs 11 oz.

There is a 5 3/4 year age gap between number one and number 2.

Second labor - 3 1/2 hours, first contraction to baby out, also including less than 10 minutes of pushing. Baby was 9 lbs 8oz.

No tearing either time.

I am worried about labor number 3 being TOO fast.

I have been fortunate enough to have terrific productive labors.

My first was at 39W4d. Was in stage one about 12 hours, and then active a total of about 4. Showed up at the hospital at 5 cm and labored there for the last 3 1/2 hours. Pushed 30 minutes. Had a second degree laceration.

My second was at 39W5d. Water broke and no contractions for about 4 hours. Did a bunch of optimal fetal positioning stuff and contractions commenced. Baby was born 2 1/2 hours later after two pushes. Again was 5 cm upon arrival at the hospital. I tore in the same spot that I tore the first time. It happened in between my two pushes.

Everyone I have talked to has had faster, easier second labors. While I didn't do formal hypnobirthing training, I did a lot of yoga and talked to many hypnobirthers. To those watching me, it seemed that my labor had stopped when I dropped off into hypnoland, but really things were cooking along just as productively. This time I want to do the real deal hypnobirthing course.

I thought surely, I would just easily push out my second baby, too. I mean, everyone else talks about a few pushes and OUT! But, that wasn't my experience. During my second babe's birth pushing actually took a lil bit longer than getting fully dilated.

I'd LOVE to easily push out my baby this third time around. But, I'm trying to not get attached to ideas of how this labor or pushing will go. Pushing for a little over two hours is not fun, but it's what it took to get my baby out. Obviously, I'd do whatever my baby and my body needed me to do.

My first labour was nearly 24 hours from start to finish, about 16 hours of hard labour, 6 hours of transition, 1 hour of pushing.

Second was less than half an hour of real pain. Didn't notice transition, and he was born in one push. Thank goodness! I deserved it after the first one

I am bucking the stats

#1 was 12 hours about 20 minutes of pushing weighed 6/8
#2 was 22 hours with about 10 minutes of pushing weighed 5/12
#3 was 6 hours with about 10 minutes of pushing weighed 8/8
#4 was 45 minutes with about 10 minutes of pushing weighed 9/8

My second was my hardest labor but my 4th is a close second. 45 minute labors SUCK. Fortunately, I planned a homebirth and a waterbirth and I am sure that helped because even with a very short labor and a good size baby I didn't have as much as a skidmark. I felt great afterewards, just a little confused since it was so fast, I was walking around a couple of hours later and DH and I were back in the saddle barely 3 weeks later

Thanks Claire - off to read my future, lol. There is something attractive to the thought of having an hour labor, but then again it scares the hell out of me. I guess only time will tell!

ETA: I posted in that post and don't even remember doing it - jeesh pregnancy brain!

My first was 5 hours(with an hour of that being pushing, I felt NO urge to push so it was very difficult for me to push him out).
My second was 1 1/2 hours with 3 pushes till he was out(definitely felt the urge that time!).
I'm eager to see what number 3 brings us!
