i don't know, but every time during my prenatal yoga class my legs are constantly falling asleep after holding just about any position for more than 5 seconds. it's mostly my legs though.

i'm curious what other people say. i keep meaning to ask my midwife about it but i always forget. i'm seeing her tomorrow, thanks for the reminder!

What are you doing when they fall asleep? I notce that my feet/legs/hands fall asleep a LOT easier than they use to, they don't do it all the time for no apparent reason though. If I sit on my knees on the floor to say, change a diaper or dress DS, and I don't for 5 min my feet fall asleep. And my legs fall asleep after only a few minutes of them being crossed.

My hand has been asleep all day, this can not be normal. I hate calling on the weekends, though. :sigh

Let us know how you our doing, charmcitymama. My hands (and sometimes feet) have been falling asleep (or as my youngest son used to say, "getting sparkly") for the last 2 weeks. I am about 5 months along and I don't remember this with my other pregnancies. It's very strange.
Peace, LEmama

I'm in my 13th week and my arms/hands are constantly going numb while I rest/sleep during the night. I wake up and at least one body part is painful/tingly --- I don't think this is normal but maybe it is a complication of pregnancy? Perhaps related to an increase in carpral tunnel syndrome in pregnancy? I'm going to have to ask about it.

I haven't been sleeping in any different positions then normal and I remember this happening in my other two pregnancies but not so early on.

Anyone else know?

I had this with my first, and it got worse the further along we were into the pregnancy. I think it has to do with the increased amount of blood your heart is pumping (not to mention the extra work due to weight gain, growing baby and everything else is going on in your bod!!) Also, carpal tunnel in pgcy is common due to swelling, which presses against your carpal nerve tunnel. For me, it was mostly my hands and arms. It went away shortly after DD was born. Maybe check with your caregiver to be sure it's nothing else, but sounds pretty normal to me.

I have been having this all pg this time. I found a solution (kinda). Chiropractic adjustments have taken care of everything except 3 fingertips on my right hand. (It was at it's worst, both feet and both hands). My right side of my body is in general worse off this time around and I am anxious for this baby so that I can start moving toward normal again.

Go to a chiropractor--after the 1st adjustment I felt better, after the 2nd I was good except those three fingertips. We can't get the numbness away from them but I am happy about the results in general.
