Just curious...

How many weeks pregnant were you when you tested positive? Did anyone get a negative test first, then wait a few days for a positive? Please tell me about it

I was 12 dpo... so about 3 1/2 weeks... and I had implant bleeding at 9-8 dpo

I got a BFP right away (with a cheap test)

With ds#2 I was also 12 dpo and had implant bleeding a few days before and I tested at night before bed and got a BFP and with DS#1 I was 14 dpo and got the BFP right away... no implant bleeding...

I started testing very early - at 8 DPO - and my tests were negative until 12 DPO. I then got a very faint positive and from then on, they were darker.
Good luck!

I tested negative until about 4 or 5 days AFTER my missed period with DD. When I got a faint postive I went into the doc.'s office to verify and they used a urine test that STILL tested negative! I argued with the nurse to order a blood test and it finally came back positive. With this pregnancy, we weren't trying and I wasn't testing, so I didn't test until I was already about 6 weeks along.

A lot depends on the test you buy; I had some store brand which I got the worlds FAINTEST positive line on, about a week before my period. I went out and got one of the digital EPT tests and it said "positive!" I didn't believe it until then. Here's a chart showing which ones will test for the lowest levels of hcg...

1st positive at 11DPO with a cheapie internet test and FMU. 2 days later I got a stronger positive, but by then my period was 3 days late, which never happens...so I hardly needed another test to confirm.

First three kids, I always tested the day after I missed my period. This time around, by a fluke, the doctor tested my urine 10 dpo, and it was positive.

dpo=days post (after) ovulation. So, if you test positive at 14 dpo, you're about "4 weeks pregnant" because it's the convention to start counting from your last period.
Mine have been at 10-12 dpo.
So, any update, ashleep?

I just tested and got a BFN. I *thought* I ovulated the day after I got my IUD out, and then we DTD the next day. I expected a period immediately since I haven't had one since 3 mo postpartum, but just a little spotting a few days after we DTD.

I need to go read about charting. I wonder if I can chart without having a period. :

Yes, you can chart without having a period. Just keep checking your fertility signs until you notice a rise in temps that would be consistent with ovualtion.

I highly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

First pg didnt think to test until 14 dpo and was a BFP

2nd pg, got a positive at 8dpo although it was very faint, tested every day getting progressively darker and I finally believed it at 12 dpo.

In six pregnancies: 1 - 11dpo; 2 - 10dpo; 3 - 10dpo; 4 - 10dpo; 5 - 9dpo; 6 - probably 14dpo (too stressed after the mc to think about trying to get pg - all of the sudden I went, "Hey, I might be pregnant." I tested and it was the darkest positive line I have ever had!)

If you DTD the day AFTER you ovulated then you lkely would not have gotten pregnant. The egg only lives for 24 hours (sometimes up to 48..but it generally is only really healthy for 24) so most likely by the day after ovulation it is too late. Plus, the sperm need a few hours after DTD to swim up to the egg and mature, so if you had already ovulated a day earlier, the egg was probably already gone.

I just got a BFP on 12 DPO. I remember getting it earlier with other pregnancies, but I don't know. Interestingly I got a BFN earlier in the morning yesterday, then a positive 15 hours later, followed by another positive to confirm. This am at 13 dpo I got two more faint positives.

Bfp at 11dpo in the afternoon. I think it implanted on 7dpo, though.

Thankyou for this! I am still in the process of learning the timing and everything, so this is what I was wondering.

ETA: I checked my calendar (yes, I wrote it down ) and the IUD came out on Thurs, I *think* I ovulated Fri., we DTD Fri night and Saturday.

When fertility is returning the body gives quite a few false signs. Your body will keep trying to ovulate again and again until your hormone levels are high enough to actually make you ovulate. Careful, the body trying to have it's first PPAF also mimics pregnancy signs, too.

You might want to try the "Nursing Mothers Trying To Conceive" thread in TTC forum. There are quite a few mamas there without PPAF TTC.

I conceived my second child when my oldest was 18 months. I had no PPAF. We just BD whenever I had fertile quality mucus... that was a lot of BDing before I ever ovulated thouhg

I was 8dpo, using a dollar store test. It was very very faint, so I wasn't sure it wasn't just an evaporation line. The next day I tested with $ store test and it was still faint, but quick enough and dark enough that I knew it was for sure a +++++, and therefore the 8dpo one was indeed a +++++.
