This is really frustrating. It's not painful or a really big problem. It started after I gave birth the first time. Since then I often have to squeeze really hard to get all the urine out, and it doesn't always empty. The last few days have been worse. This morning I was on the toilet for like ten minutes squeezing out only a little urine at a time with much effort. It's just like my bladder doesn't want to contract any more. I've never in my life had a UTI or any kind of urinary tract issues. I don't even know if this is called anything.

My advice would be to quit pushing it out.. you should try to relax and let it flow out. When you push too hard it actually can strain the bladder instead of help. I usually sit for a few minutes after my urine flow has stopped and just try to totally relax all muscles in that area sometimes I will get a bit more to come out sometimes not but this has helped with peeing my pants. Remember to do your Kegel exercises as well.. I don't know that they have done much for me but I am scared to think what my bladder would be like without them.

Try gently pushing from the outside with some TP. Just sort of hold it there and relax. Something about the light pressure helps things to come out. It can end up being a little messy, but your hands are washable.

I lean all the way forward without pushing too much--just when I start peeing. That kind of lines up the bladder with the urethra, I think. I heard that from some women during my last pregnancy and it worked wonders for my being able to sleep longer at night!

: It helps me to lean forward and wiggle around a bit.

I find squatting on the toilet helps get it all out, as does relaxing instead of pushing.

Standing over the toilet works. I didn't think I could pee standing up until I tried it but it works great and no mess. Straddle the toilet with your back to the tank.

I am on meds now that have helped more than anything. I went on them after having to go to the ER twice this pregnancy and having to be cathed because I was terribly distended.

I was having trouble with this too, then noticed the other night at the movie theatre when I was using the public washroom that standing over the toilet was the first time I was able to (almost) completely empty my bladder. The leaning forward trick doesn't work for me. It's not hard to do, but I suggest lifting the toilet seat just in case, just like guys do.

Thanks! The relaxing and leaning forward is helping. I'm going to try the squatting too.
